1972 Eldorado convertible. This is a solid car that we bought last year from a local gentleman who had owned it for over 30 years. It has been parked since about 2004 and the last few years was stored outside under several tarps. It runs and lot drives but is not roadworthy. The frame and underbody show no signs of serious rust, although there is some flaky factory undercoating and surface rust on the frame and floors that makes it look worse than it is. It will need brakes and other work to be roadworthy, but runs enough to drive on a trailer. It has a clear title. Please see below for details. This Eldorado has some great options including parade boot, auto-dimming healdights and rear defrost. We got the engine running with minimal work and it feels strong, but the fuel line is broken at the sending unit so we have it running off a small remote can. Prior to that we had it running off the stock fuel pump and tank. The carb will need work, and the AC compressor clutch is frozen so we had to remove the power steering belt. The fan pulley is also squeaky. Here's a to the engine running. The body is very good for its age and we've only found a small rust hole behind the driver fender skirt on the quarter and some scale and a small hole under the sound deadening under the rear seat. The owner said he had the car striped to bare metal in the early 80's and repainted. Some of the paint has flaked off on the rear quarter, and it shows some age overall. There are no signs of rust or accident repairs that I can find. The more I look at it, the more impressed I am with how well it has survived. The brakes will need to be rebuilt and I'm including new rotors, master cylinder, hardware, hydraulic parts, etc to get you started. There's also a new fuel pump and some other spare parts. Interior is well preserved with a nice dash and seats. Leather is a little stiff. Steering wheel has some cracks as shown. The parade boot looks great and is the same color as the body. Includes the soft top boot also but it has a couple small holes in it. Power windows and seats work but are slow. I have not tested the top motor. The switch is sticky and I didn't want to force it. This car was sold new at Delaware Motors in Delaware, MA and I believe it's only had 2 owners before me. We're running out of space in the warehouse and need to sell a few projects. The car is located in Amelia, Ohio 45102, just east of Cincinnati. Serious offers welcome and we can discuss shipping, storage, etc by email or phone. |
