Offered for sale is a very solid unmolested California 1971 914 project car. 10/70 build in rare L63K willow green paint code. Increasingly rare to find 914’s that have not succumbed to the ravages of rust and modifications. This 914 has been off the road since the late 1980’s when the owner passed and it sat garaged for many years until the previous owner bought it from the family. The original title was not found and subsequently not registered after for a number of years. The good the bad and the ugly.Very good: Super solid California since day one body and chassis. All floor pans are original and in great shape, all Jack points intact and solid. Original numbers matching 1.7 engine. Everything is there, all parts, upholstery pieces for front and back trunks. 5 rare, original to the car Pedrini alloy wheels. One of the coolest and rare color paint codes for a 914 willow green. All glass in great shape. All trim pieces present and in good shape. The bad: car has been painted black over the original green. It looks better in the photos than in person. It’s not the highest quality paint job and some spots later were painted in different areas and various scratches and bubbles to the paint are noted. The only rust through spots I can see are the rear trunk back edge where there are a few holes, and the driver rocker panel cover in one spot. Upholstery is original but driver seat has holes and seam split, cracks in dash. Fuel injection was removed by first owner and a 4 barrel Holly carb fitted. I believe all the fuel injection parts are there as shown in pic. The car will run. I started it and had it running in the last month. Which leads into to the ugly.Ugly: the ignition switch and key is missing. I hot wired it and it fired up with a fuel pump. It will need to have the tank cleaned a new ignition switch and a fuel pump wired up. The doors and the trunk will need new key cylinders. To open doors you need to use the inside door levers. Drivers outside door lever just broke off. Brakes are working but should be rebuilt. Passenger door piece that limits door from opening too wide has broken. The ugly: this pertains to California buyers only. The car owes roughly $980 dmv back fees since 1987. It’s still in the system since original owner passed so it will be a challenge for Cali buyers to get this registered. For out of state buyers this is not a problem and a bill of sale will be provided. Not often seen early chrome bumper 914 in such solid shape! Take this easy project and run with it! I have an excellent car shipper that can beat all the others if you need it delivered to you. |
