Whether you want a cruiser, drag strip bruiser, or auto cross King, theNova can be formatted into just about any configuration. Inspired by theTrans-Am series. Part street car, part autocross car, part do-it-all.Quotefrom the builder of this Nova.“I wanted a road race, vintage Trans-Aminspired car,” stated Jon. He started with a 1970 Nova. Before doing anything,he knew that in order to get the wheels and stance just right, the fenders hadto be stretched. After media blasting the car and stripping it down to theframe, all four fenders are stretched two-inches to allow for up to a 10″ wheelup front and 14″ wheel in the back if he so desires. In addition to stretchingthe fenders, a set of minitubsallowed for extra breathing room.TheBase: SuspensionWe all know that the factory suspensionwouldn’t be up to par with these plans. Ditching all that, he slipped acomplete front end under the car. In the rear a modifiedG-Bar 4-link was installed with billet arms, Johnny Joints and a full floaterCurrie rear end. In order to stiffen up the chassis and increase safety, a12-point roll cage was installed. Dampening is handled at all four cornerswith tripleadjustable PODIUM shocks. In order to get the car stopping, amassive set of were installed at all corners with 14″ rotors. Wrapping thebrakes is a set of VF503 wheels, with a traditional pinstripe to set themoff. The fronts are 18×9 with 615K 275/35 series tires and the rears are 18×11with a 315/30 series tire.We can see how this car oozes Trans-Amwith a modern street twist to it.Exteriorand Interior AttentionThe Dupont VW Chili Pepper Red grabsattention on this Nova a mile away. Finished with the Toyota White stripes, everybody is stopping to look at this ride. If you pay attention closely, you’llnotice a set of custom 3D printed fender vents too. Fesler build supplied thecool door handles, hood hinges, trunk hinges and tail lights. Another coolpiece on this Nova is the off-road lights which act as headlights. On the interior, the theme is carried through out. A custom sheetmetal dash adorns a full cluster of gauges. wasutilized for door handles and the pedal set up while the Ididit columnfeatures a wheeland paddleshifters. To keep the driver safe and comfortable, seatswere installed. The rest of the interior consists of sheet metal doorpanels, LineX floors with Dynamat and a onepiece headliner. The interior is clean but all business – the only creaturecomfort is a heaterand Cold A/C for those hot days and cold mornings.TheHeartbeatThe heart of the Nova surprisingly isn’tan LS engine. Keeping true to the builder’s inspiration, just went BBC. However,an ordinary BBC wouldn’t do. Starting with a 454, Jon bored and stroked theengine out to 468 cubic-inches utilizing a GM billet crank and H-Beam rods anda hydraulicroller camshaft. A set of Performer heads and Edelbrock Victor Jr. intakekeeps the air flowing in this engine.Going a step further out of theordinary, Jon installed a single T4 78mm turbo set up on this BBC to make surethat he will put the hurting on a few LS powered cars. A complete unit keeps thefuel properly mixed for the engine, which a complete HyperFuel system does thejob of supplying fuel to the FiTech unit. Exhaust is expelled through a setof mufflersafter going through a custom set of headers that have been ceramic coated.Cooling for the turbo is a CX Racing intercooler and an radiatorset up keeps the BBC cool at all times. Behind the powerful BBC is a built4L80E transmission. This transmission is mated the the rear endwith an driveshaft. Please copy and Paste Link to see Additional Pictures. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/p6v7ry297owspd4/AAC6QlFcyXpvPkSxA4yNJcf3a?dl=0Stan: 305-281-7119Kyle: 305-972-9104 |
