1438 Twin Cam Engine, 5 speed TransmissionThis 1970 Fiat 124 Spider underwent a complete mechanical restoration in 2009. Family owned since new, the car spent the first 39 years in New Jersey before being brought to Columbus Ohio for restoration in 2009.All 2009 mechanical restoration work was completed by Jon Logan of Midwest 124, Ltd in Columbus Ohio. Currently, I am the second owner of this vehicle. Restoration work included the following:Cylinder Head RebuildEngine Block RebuildTransmission RebuildExhaust System RestorationDriveshaft RestorationBrake System Restoration Fuel System RestorationIgnition/Electrical System RestorationCooling System Restoration Steering / Suspension RestorationWheels/Tires/AlignmentInspection and service work performed in May 2018When I got the car from the previous owner it had some small rust spots and the top was torn. I had the Car professionally painted and a new top installed. It is getting harder and harder to find these early flat hood spiders and this is possibly one of the nicest you will find. There is a rust spot on the passenger rear bumper and one small paint chip on the hood.I took the car back to John and had the valves adjusted again and a new alternator. There are no cracks on the dash or seats and the interior is outstanding. The only thing I am aware of that does not work is the clock.I really do not wish to sell this car as even though the restoration for the mechanical end was done a while ago , it is in unreal shape. The boot for the top is also in the car but does have a tear in it.All work that was done on this car was done at Midwest 124 . The premiere Fiat service shop.Very few miles were put on after the restoration. The original owners that I got the car from had inherited a house with no garage and did not want to leave it outside. At that time the top was torn and there was minimal rust on the car. I would not have left it outside either. With the New top and Paint (Factory Color) I can think of nothing that currently needs done. This may very well be one of the finest 70 spiders available. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me. Whoever gets this car will certainly be pleased. |
