This particular model represents one of only 38 1967 Roadsters, has amazing hi-power and displays elegant looks making for the complete package! This is a truly exciting roadster with throaty side pipe exhaust and very rare "no-door" body! A fantastic Excalibur example with a beautiful sleek black finish and low miles now available in St. Louis, MO. History of the Excalibur Car: The original Excalibur was the brainchild of Studebaker's Brooks Stevens, who took inspiration from the famous Mercedes-Benz SSK and decided to make a more modern interpretation. Originally designed in 1964 over a Studebaker chassis with their 289ci V8, Studebaker's demise forced the project in a different direction and connections ultimately landed the car with Corvette power. Taking into account the Excaliburs 2100 pounds and optional 350 horsepower V8 mated to a 4-speed manual, the car was sensationally quick with the ability to get up to 60 mph in just over five seconds and with a top speed of 160mph! Prices started at $7500, which all but eliminated the average man from buying a new one. Their style and performance have endured as one of the most stylish performance cars of the 1960s, so today offers a very unique opportunity for collectors to own a uniquely special antique automobile! About This 1967 Excalibur SSK Series I For Sale: This striking "no-door" Excalibur Roadster comes finished in gorgeous gloss Black over supple Red Leather interior with a matching Black Stayfast cloth top! Our available Excalibur example has traveled only 7,600 miles from new and has been garaged in Texas all its life! The 1966 dated-coded 327ci Corvette V8 provides 350 horsepower and mates to a Hurst shifted 4-speed Muncie wide-ratio transmission. Options include highly polished 72-spoke 15" chrome wire-spoke wheels fitted with 215/70R15 BF Goodrich Silvertown Radial Redline tires, steering driving light, functional side exhaust with original Excalibur exhaust headers, side step plates, and more! This is likely to be one of the most beautiful Excalibur SSK Series I roadsters available ever! Purchased new by Waco, TX resident, Mr. Robert Crow, of R.M Crow Company through Van Winkle Motor Company of Dallas, TX, this documented one-owner example survived parked in a Texas garage all its life! After Mr. Crow's passing, the car stayed in the family, parked in storage with only 7,600 miles, until the St. Louis Car Museum purchased the vehicle. Still possessing its original tires, leather interior, factory lacquer paint, and all original componentry, it was the perfect balance of originality upon arrival to our facility! Although, because of its time of non-use, our expert maintenance team felt the necessity of a full cosmetic and mechanical restoration was required to bring it back to the level it deserved. Starting with a methodical game plan, the body was separated from the chassis to best prepare it for a professional repaint. The paint would be hand stripped to its bare foundation over the course of several weeks before it would be resealed, primed, sanded repeatedly to an ultra-smooth texture, and then painted in a multilayer base coat/clear coat fashion to stunning, show-worthy results! Once mated to an equally refinished chassis, the interior was fully refurbished from the factory original red vinyl to a much more deserving red leather interior. Powered with its factory original L79 327ci/350hp V8 Turbo-Jet engine and Muncie 4-speed manual transmission offering an exhilarating ride! Our highly experienced maintenance staff took the liberty of fully disassembling the engine just enough to reseal it properly beginning with a new intake gasket and professionally rebuilding the Holley carburetor, new valve cover gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, new water pump and gasket with a new thermostat, re-cored factory radiator, and all new hoses & belts. The entire ignition system was swapped for new including fresh coil, plugs, and wires, cap and rotor, etc. All fluids were renewed along with fresh filters. The original gas tank would be sent out for cleaning, etching, and sealing before being reinstalled with a new sending unit, lines, fuel pump, and filter. The transmission would be removed to install a brand new clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, along with resurfacing the flywheel. To complete our restoration, the entire braking system was renewed with rebuilt front calipers, new pads and rotors, hoses, new rear brake cylinders, master cylinder & booster. We also installed new front and rear shocks, new battery and cables, leather-wrapped the rear leaf springs, and brand new radial redline tires. The time and expense were all well worth it once admiring the finished results! We are proud to offer a truly remarkable Excalibur Series I Roadster for sale!! The Series I carried through 1969 and only 359 were ever produced (Roadster and Phaeton styles combined). Only 38 Excalibur Roadsters were hand-produced in 1967 making them extremely rare and desirable to prominent collectors today! Our example comes with the original Excalibur birth certificate supporting this color combination & options, along with Texas title documentation of single ownership history. All recent service & reconditioning receipts can be provided to the new owner. Note: titled in Missouri as a 1966 model year. To learn more about this beautiful classic Excalibur, contact Jon Faust at 855-586-3413 or by emailing . Finance & Shipping options available to those who qualify!
