1968 Plymouth Barracuda: Fully Restored 1968 Plymouth Barracuda. Every piece of this vehicle has been removed, refurbished, or replaced. It was a barn find and was over six years in the process. I have other pictures and will send them at your request. This is NOT a numbers matching car and it is not the original color. This is an abbreviated list of the restoration of this vehicle:Body: the vehicle was completely disassembled. The exterior of the body was taken to bare metal. There was little rust on the car as it sat inside for many years. The left fender was replaced because the original fender was too damaged to repair. All other spots were professionally repaired. The interior and underside were sandblasted and repainted. The underside was undercoated before re-assembly. The original color of the car was Monarch Red. Trim: All metal trim was removed from the car. What could be reused was straightened, polished,and stripes repainted. There are two small dents on the upper deck lid trim that could not be repaired, and no replacement could be found. The vinyl top was replaced with black vinyl. The original vinyl top was white.Powertrain: Engine – Original 318 from the vehicle. Only parts from original engine that are not new are block, crankshaft, oil pan, heads, and valve covers. Bored .030”oversize. Keith Black pistons, new stock TRW rods, new bearings throughout, new camshaft (mild grind), pushrods, rocker shafts, lifters, valves and springs. New oil pickup and oil pump. Aluminum intake 4 barrel manifold with Edelbrock 1406 carburetor. Hooker long headers. New water pump, hoses, radiator, A/C condenser,compressor, a/c hoses, belts, dryer.Transmission: Original model A904 transmission from vehicle. I do not know if this is the original transmission from vehicle because it had salvage yard markings on it. Completely Rebuilt. New clutches clutch plates bands servo seals and gaskets. Rebuilt stock torque converter. Transgo Shift kit installed –Level 2 set up for towing/heavy duty use. New universal joints.Differential: Original 7.25 inch was removed and replaced with 8.75 sure-grip (clutch type). New green bearings on axles. New bearings and seals. 3.23 gear ratio.Brakes: New master cylinder and power booster. All new brake lines. Front disc sliding caliper brakes. New calipers, new rotors, bearings, and seals. 10” x 1.75” rear drum brakes. New wheel cylinders, shoes, and hardware.Suspension: New QA1 upper and lower control arms and adjustable strut rods. New shocks. New Borgeson 12:1 power steering box. New tie rods, idler arm, Pitman arm, and shocks. New torsion bar boots. Hotchkiss sway bars front and rear. Rear leaf springs have been reassembled with new damper cushions. Cragger SS 15x7rims on front and 15x8 wheels on rear. Cooper radial tires.Electrical: Everything in the electrical system is new except for the original gauges and heater and windshield wiper switch. New wiring harness, fuse box, New Mopar electronic ignition. LED headlights,tail lights, turn signals, dash lights. Redondo aftermarket radio with Bluetooth, AUX, and USB inputs. Bluetooth phone capability. Installed relays in heater fan circuits to ease load on hard to find heater switch. Full gauges with tachometer. Interior: New door panels, weatherstripping, window handles and armrests. New carpet. Soundproofing pad under carpet. New seat foam, seat covers, three point seat belts (front) and new rear seat belts. New headliner and windshield. All other glass is Mopar original. Bucket seats are from 1973 Challenger. Original Build Sheet, Warranty Card, and Owners manual go with vehicle. |
