1968 Ford Fairlane 500 ConvertibleThis car has a really neat story. It was resurrected in 2016 from a garage, where it sat for 35 years! It was actually a 'little old lady's car', check out the picture of accelerator and brake pedal, blocks were put on there when the car was new so she could reach them! I had to leave them on there, it was just too cool! This car was part of an estate sale, the original owner bought it new and stopped driving her back in 1981 (I still have the expired plates). The car only has 89K original miles...that's it!The car is unmolested and still retains the original:-Convertible Top (it is still in great shape with the original rear glass)-Original Interior and parade boot-Original Engine and Transmission-Original Trim and Chrome (shines and looks decent)The doors don't sag and click shut effortlessly. The trunk and hood shut solid. Nice original trim and bumpers (not new but present themselves very well for their age). Good seals and weather stripping. The car has aged very well being garage kept its whole life.The car was repainted in 2017 in the original color of Highland Green, which sets off the Dark Red Corinthian Vinyl interior very well. The only modification from stock is an aluminum cross flow radiator (keeps it much cooler than the old style straight flow), a mechanical temperature gauge (this is in addition to the dummy light that is still wired), and a fantastic sounding custom dual exhaust (with stock exiting tail pipes tucked under the rear quarters...this is a quality custom bent system). Since being awaken from her slumber, the car has received a mountain of new parts and countless hours of labor:I am sure there are some other things that I am forgetting. I built this car for my dad, to be a reliable summer driver that looks great. He doesn't drive much any more and his health is not the best, so he never really got to enjoy it. It drives down the road nicely and has plenty of power. This is a car to be proud of at any car show. I am not a dealer, this car is part of my personal collection. The car has been sitting in storage under a car cover since I drove it last in the spring of last year. I would recommend going through the carb and changing the fluids since it has been sitting for a about a year. The car runs nice and cool idling or driving down the road. I took it for a quick drive today and the carb had a bit of a 'flat spot'. It might clear up as you drive or it might need some adjustment. I ran her up to 70 mph and she ran just fine. The power top goes up and down as it should...it is ready for someone to enjoy her!I have told you all I can think of, but please understand that the car is sold absolutely as-is where-is with no warranty or guarantee. This is a 52 year old car, it is not perfect. I am happy to show you the car if you reach out to me and make arrangements but don't wait until the day before the auction ends. This is an absolute sale with no refunds or exchanges, so ask questions before you commit to buying the car. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of auction ends via paypal. Full payment is due within 7 days of auction end, or you will forfeit your deposit and the car will be relisted for sale...no exceptions. You can pay for the car in cash or via paypal...no 3rd party checks from a rich Sheik in Saudi Arabia. The car must be picked up within 14 days of auction end, unless arrangements made in advance and agreed to by both of us. I am happy to work with your shipper to the best of my ability.
