1963 Volkswagen Bug$6,000If you like all original—THIS CAR IS NOT FOR YOU.When I first got this car it was a rust bucket. I literally stripped the car to it core body, sanded EVERYTHING down to the metal and cut out every bit of the the cancerous rust init. I then bathed the bottom in POR15, (rust preventative in the interior) before priming with an industrial strength primer and painting. Everything in the car has been upgraded and/or replaced. This bug was used in the East as a Dune Buggy on the beach. Salt had done its worst. The car’s engine was sent out and rebuilt to a dual carb 1600cc. So it would have the power to be driven on the highway and off road. I ordered custom made fenders for front (3” with c 169.99 each) and rear (4.5” with brackets 179.99 each) as well as the bumpers (3” x 4.5” with brackets 189.99 for a pair) and running boards (3 x 4.5”) from Glass-action.com. The steering wheel and all knobs, buttons, switches handles, and mirrors are brand new. The only exception is the 50’s switch I bought for the vintage fan I am selling with the bug (which cost me $250.00). Next: the wheels and tires...I upgraded seats so I could not only have memory foam cushion but the neck safety of a high back seat. This car was designed for street, dirt, or unpaved roads in the mountains. Not to mention, it was intended to be a daily driver.NOTE:I have given the prices freely as I have all my receipts. (I have a picture book of documented photos beginning to showing my work). I have restored bugs, Ghia’s and a bus. I know what this bug is worth, this is a very good deal. SO WHY AM I SELLING THIS? Though this is my favorite VW I am letting it go because I am moving in a year and I WILL not keep it outdoors. Also, my restoration partner recently died of cancer and I just do not have the heart to complete the project. However, I will store it if needs be before I give it away, please do not waste my time or yours low-balling. I know what I have and what it is worth. Thank you in advance for your time.To be Done: 1. Door windows installed along with panels, and cranks 2. Door rubber installed 3. Rear fender alignment, the fiberglass was off and so there needs to be body work done. 4. The pop out windows are aftermarket and need holes drilled into them in order to be mounted. 5. Radio and all speakers need to be installed. 6. Holes need to be drilled for the rear tail pipes. 7. running boards need installing. 8. THE PAINT JOBS SUCKS!!!!! The UGLY: Driver's side fender is a mess. The man who installed it did a terrible job and he died before he could fix it. It needs to be replaced I just don't think it's worth trying to restore the one I have. To buy a new one will cost about $194.00 (shipping included). A very good reason for the low price. This car is in Woodbridge, Virginia. I am happy to work with anyone wanting the car shipped.AND "YES" any reasonable offer will be considered.Thank you. |
