Hello and thank you, for looking at this rare, 1957 Isetta 300 Cabriolet. The story is, that the original owner purchased this at BMW of Kansas City in 1957, and used it to promote his night club, Bali Hai Inn, Lincoln, NE. The original color of Baby Blue, was immediately changed to the cream color you see here. The original paint is evident on the interior panels, as well as the inside of the engine cover, and original undercarriage. The cream color also was a better background for the fabulous, "Bali Hai" graphic, complete with a cool, South Pacific style font, and Palm Tree. The graphic was done by Jack McDonald Signs, Lincoln, NE. I have tried to contact the company, using Google, but the phone numbers listed, are all out of service. Originally purchased to give a ground up restoration, but decided that the 1957 art work and color combination were too cool to destroy. This is the first time the car has been offered for sale, in a truly public fashion. I have searched the web for another Cabriolet, currently for sale, and I believe this is the only one, that I know of, at least. If you are looking for an Isetta Cabriolet, either to restore, or enjoy, this is the one. A full, Concourse restoration, on this example, even at the most expensive shops, shouldn't and most likely wouldn't cost more than $15,000. There is very little to these cars. Very simple design, and very little surface area to paint. Having said that, I think the hand painted graphics, tell a story. I believe the record, for an auction house price is $89,700. It was sold by RM Sotheby's in Feb or 2013. I have not found an Isetta Cabriolet, that sold for less than $50,000. in over five years. The most recent, a BAT auction, with a final bid price of $56,250.00 not including buyer fee.Good luck! |
