A Chevrolet advertisement headlined: "We gave it radials, a quieter ride, guard beams and a nose job." Mechanical The base L-48 engine produced 190 hp, but you won't have to worry about that because the engine in this Corvette has had a host of different things done to it and performance parts added. To start off with you will notice the performance air cleaner, custom valve covers, aluminum intake and performance carb, headers, modified electronics and distributer, performance fuel system, braided hoses, Milodon oil pan, and much more. All the gases go out the rear via a dual exhaust system. The Corvette rides on correct factory mag wheels with Cooper Cobra tires, And Corvette's refinement as a touring sports car uses both power steering and power brakes. Interior The black bucket seat interior looks factory stock with the correct factory appointments like gauges, seat belts, center console, Corvette AM/FM stereo radio system, wood grain paneling on the dash, side panels, and console, and a few mods such as wood cup holders, and Stingray floor mats. Exterior The 1973 Chevrolet Corvette was the first "Rubber Bumper" Vette. The front chrome bumper was replaced with a federally mandated 5 MPH bumper that changed it's looks significantly. This is the only year that a rubber front bumper and chrome rear bumper were used at the same time. A new side brace was added as well to increase safety. This was also the last year for the small spoiler at the back of the car. As stated earlier, the bright orange paint makes this Corvette an attention getter. The 1973 hood features cold air induction and removes the automatic panel that hid the windshield wipers. A vent in the hood by the windshield wipers provided cold outside air for the engine also. The new ducts on the sides behind the front wheels were non-trimmed and consist of just one large hole and some body styling and the Corvette rides on factory rims with performance tires. Conclusion The 1973 Chevrolet Corvette we have at Skyway Classics will be an attention getter wherever you drive it to and will have the additional power and great handling to challenge you as a driver to drive it as it should be driven.
