1972 Corvette Stingray – LS5 454 / 4 speed Collector Grade For sale by private owner. It is titled, insured and tagged in my name. Here is a gorgeous collector grade 72 Corvette Stingray covered in its factory 988 coded steel cities grey paint. The Vette has 72,500 original documented miles and will go up slightly, as it’s driven on nice sunny days. It has its matching VIN 454 motor which has never been apart as far as I can tell. It starts the first time, every time and drives perfect. The close ratio 4 speed shifts smoothly. Everything works as it should with the lights and wipers still on vacuum. The clock works intermittingly. The paint is near perfect and appears to be a repaint of the factory 988 coded color “Steel Cities Grey” and it’s quite obvious that all of the chrome and rubber were off the car when it was repainted. There are 2 or 3 very small 1/4” stone chips, but you will be hard pressed to find them. The radio works but it’s the original analog technology and isn’t wonderful. There is power steering assist, but not true power steering. I can say it feels like it has power steering and can turn the wheel with one hand easily. Disc brakes on all 4 corners stop the car easily. Tires have plenty of tread, with no cracks. All of the glass is perfect as is all the trim. The chrome bezels around the exhaust tips show some minor wear. How I would rate the car- Body and paint – 9.5 / 10 – the T tops have a minor rattle when going over divots or bumps in the road. As stated earlier, the paint is a smooth as I have ever seen. No swirls, no over spray and show quality. The under carriage is completely rust free other then very minor surface rust shown in the photos. Interior – 9 / 10 – floor mats are showing wear and the carpet on the drivers side has a little bit of fuzzies from where I rest my left foot. Engine bay 8.75 / 10 – It has a Edelbrock carb, MSD distributor and a high performance coil. They are rather inconspicuous but not OEM equipment. Some of the plastic beneath the hood could use a quick coat of matte black rustoleum to freshen things up. No leaks, no smoke, no weird noises. (Please note, anything that looks like moistness on the garage floor was from my 59 AMC wagon which was parked there) This 1972 Corvette with its LS5 motor is 1 of 2346 in 988 Steel Cities Grey and 1 of 1741 with a LS5 454 and possibly 1 of very few left remaining (maybe 500?) matching numbers. The Corvette is located in Centreville MD 21617 about 30 minutes East of Annapolis, MD. Serious inquires only 443-496-0701 – additional photos for very serious buyers. The car is being sold “As is”, no refunds, warranties or implied guarantees. I have described the car as accurately as possible. The buyer is responsible for arranging and paying for all shipping. I can assist with loading and staging it for pick up. $1000 nonrefundable Paypal deposit is due immediately at auction end. Full payment needs made within 3 days of auction end, cash in person or bank wire only The car is for sale locally and the auction may end at any time. The title is clear and the VIN on the title matches all VIN’s on the Vette EXTREMELY serious inquires only. |
