To start, I am offering this factory 914-6 at a fair price reflecting the condition. This is an extremely original and solid CALIFORNIA Porsche delivered new to the Los Angeles area. The purchase of a new home forces the sale. Currently registered with a CA clear title. Offered is a 1970 Porsche 914-6 (s/n 9140432665) Colorado Metallic Red (Code: 8110), Original black leatherette interior, with its original engine and transmission. This authentic 914-6 was the third to last produced for model year 1970. Approximately 3,360 914-6's were produced between 1970-1972. Of those, roughly 2,000 found their way to the United States, making it one of the more rare models Porsche has ever produced. This particular 914-6 is even rarer due to its color, and highly sought after by 914-6 aficionados and collectors. The majority of 914-6's were painted black, white, or orange. This particular car was painted a special order color Colorado Metallic Red, making it quite rare among 914-6’s. Originally imported by Volkswagen of America (Culver City, CA), this 914-6 was sold to it’s first owner through Aero Volkswagen (P+A), 817 La Brea Ave, Inglewood CA (per the original destination sticker). It so happens to be an exceptionally solid example. Having spent the majority of its time in California, the floors are original and solid, as is the trunk and the boot. The ‘hell hole’ is completely dry and solid as well (no signs of corrosion or repair). There are no signs of this vehicle ever having been involved in a collision or exhibiting signs of collision repair making this an exceptionally straight 914-6. Per the previous owner, this 914-6 was painted in the late 1980’s in its original color, prior to her ownership. Her and her late husband were long time PCA members. Unfortunately, poor paint preparation has led to bubbling under the front windshield. In the area where the paint is bubbling, the metal is strong and solid. There are various bumps and bruises but they are mainly cosmetic with the exception of the noted rust due to poor paint prep. Other than the noted paint flaws, this Porsche 914-6 in good condition. The body is incredibly straight and all panels are original to the vehicle. All gaps are good. The door jambs and rocker sills are nice although there is minor bubbling on the passenger’s side sill. Both the front compartment and rear stowage area are original and were not repainted at the time of the repaint, showing this car to be an honest example. The engine compartment remains completely stock. The original dash is in good condition without cracks, as are the door panels, seats, and console upholstery. The original carpets are also in very good condition. All glass is original to the vehicle with proper markings. The carpets are original and nice, with minor discoloration. Other than the original muffler, the original steering wheel, and the original air intake box this 914-6 is completely original. This 914-6 is mechanically sound. The exact mileage on the original motor is unknown, but was rebuilt at some point during it’s life. It does not smoke upon start-up. A recent compression check was completed, and all cylinders were between 175-185 lbs. The carburetors are in good shape, and there seems to be nothing that is urgently needed at this time as far as the engine is concerned. There are a few minor oil leaks that need to be addressed down the road. This 914-6 is a pleasure to drive with ample power, shifting smoothly both up and down through the gears. It brakes on a dime with 911S calipers up front and cross-drilled rotors on all corners. The suspension is tight with externally adjustable Koni shocks up front and Koni’s in the rear. This 914-6 has a beautiful original set of Fuchs 6Jx15 wheels all dated 10/75 with newer Falken tires (10/18). Included are a COA from 1992, the original 914-6 manual with destination sticker, jack, and partial tool kit, as well as all records for work performed during the current ownership period.
