A "Stunning" Rare Original. Very Dry SURVIVOR - Excellent Driver With Original Paint!VIDEO AVAILABLE UPON REQUESTVIN: AR664832Engine Number: AR00536-15077History: This beautiful1967 Duetto was purchased from a gentleman who kept very special care of it and had owned the car for the last 20 years. The original owner was from inland North East California and owned it for approximately 33 years, up and through the late 90s. So I am the 3 owner. This car is truly an excellent example of a rust free survivor which any Alfanatic would truly appreciate. It is incredibly dry and unrestored except for the seats. It is extremely honest and original.Original paint: The paint is original The elcometer readings on the car are consistent with original paint and I have seen no signs otherwise, with the exception of the nose having been resprayed to remedy some rock chips over the course of it's 50-+ year life as I got the story from the second owner. It was not in an accident or anything like that as he advised. There is checking in the paint on the nose and onto the hood where it was touched on the respray. Otherwise, paint presents very well overall. There are a number of small chips along the door crease but these have all been touched up and are really only noticeable with a very close look. Paint gauge readings are viewable in additional pics for those who are interested. In the trunk the car actually still has the Duco sticker with the BIANCO 95-C-026 paint code on there. The shock towers in the trunk even still have the dabs of the factory paint insignia on them in red as seen in the trunk pictures. Exterior: The car is documented in detail. I have a video and about 50 or so additional pictures upon request. The body is phenomenally dry. No bubbling or rust whatsoever. Very very impressive for an unrestored Alfa of the 60s. There are a couple dings on the nose bright work. There is one on the nose (see picture) and there is another, less significant ding (very small) on the rear edge of the trunk lid. Glass is clear and crack-free. Front windshield still has the 1975 California inspection sticker on it, from the original owner. Light lenses are also crack-free throughout. The car retains its Hella H4 lenses, Carello light covers, as well as its Vitaloni fender-mounted mirror. Original steelies show some patina, but I do have a second, much nicer set that will also go with the car. Those wheels are in good condition, and very valuable. Polished hubcaps show a few small dings in the front, the rears are very nice. Soft top is in really good shape as pictures show. There are two small punctures that were repaired on the passenger side. The car will also come with a hardtop, which looks great on the car. The hardtop is in really good shape, fits well and is a nice rare addition as most Duetto's did not come with a hardtop option! Very very hard to find a Hardtop aftermarket, near impossible.Interior: Seats were reupholstered in a very nice medium-dark red vinyl. The original seat material wasn't thrown out, but rather kept in a box that will go along with the car. Seats are simply excellent. Dash has a few cracks but still all there. I've used a dash cover and it looks great. The dash could be fully restored for a reasonable cost and probably the only thing that this amazing original could use. All weather seals are good accept for the passenger side door which is a little dry.Odometer reads 23,458 believed to be original miles as advised by second owner and is functional. Other gauges are all functional as well. This car does not have air conditioning. All lights and signals are functional. AM/FM/Cassette radio is not functional. Under the Hood / Underbody: Please take a look through the underbody photos. Underbody is excellent. No previous metal work and no rust. Very much structurally sound. Extremely impressive condition for an unrestored Alfa, and a definite highlight of the car. This car retains its original engine, the twin-cam I4. The AR00536 block decodes as correct for a series one Duetto. Five speed manual trans number is 99289, with a 9/41 final drive.Bottom Line: This stunning original runs and drives very, very well. The sound is absolutely magnificent. The car idles cool and steady, pulls hard but smooth through all of the gears without any hesitation. It really shifts smoothly. It brakes straight and effectively, tracks straight, and feels nice and light on its factory correct wheels. No creaks or squeaks over bumps, no noises or tendencies of any concern. A confidence-inspiring driver that can be enjoyed just as it is for many years or can be restored to a $90k plus restoration as you can see what they are going for when done correctly. These cars are soaring in price year over year, getting harder and harder to find in such nice original condition.Don't mean to sound draconian here folks but please understand that this is a serious auction for a very rare Alfa Romeo Duetto. I must emphasize all too often here on ebay there are cyber tire kickers that recklessly bid just for kicks in total disregard of auction rules. This auction is not for kicks (pardon the pun) and it is unfair to me and other serious buyers who would otherwise complete purchase. PAYMENT & TERMSThe winning bidder must pay in full by wire or check within 3 days of end of auction. I reserve the right to cancel sale if these terms are not met. If you know the value of this Duetto and you are a serious and qualified buyer, these terms should be met with out issue. Please be mindful of these terms before considering to purchase this vehicle but feel free to contact me to discuss other options that may be acceptable. For out of the country buyers: Please make all shipping arrangements before purchase. I will help coordinate pick-up but all transportation costs for both domestic and out of country is buyers responsibility. However, if my Buy It Now price is met I will cover all shipping costs to the lower 48. Very few Duetto's come along in this type of original and dry condition. Don't miss out on this very rare original! |
