Possesses an older, well executed restoration retaining an original color pallet of Black over Cherokee Red interior! Very well sorted driver capable of cruising highway speeds with ease! Fitted with several upgrades inside that make for a splendid driver and weekend show car! Act quickly on this one! When it comes to affordable and dependable English cars that fulfilled the need for transportation on a budget, the Morris Minor can be called one of the most successful brands hailing from Britain. In fact, after just 12 years in operation, it was the first English auto manufacturer to celebrate the production and sale of one million cars! They began in 1948 with huge success totaling unit production of just over 250,000 vehicles by 1953. This led to the merger with Austin Motor Company to form British Motor Corporation. With vast improvements over the years, the Morris Minor would transition from the early MM-series (1948-53) to a Series II (1953-56), then the better known as the Morris Minor 1000 Series III (1957-62), and finally a Series V, or late generation Morris Minor 1000(1963-1971). (The Series IV was allocated to the Mini Morris model) These Series V Morris Minor 1000 models came in several body styles, including 2-door & 4-door Saloons, Convertibles, an Estate Traveller, Cargo Van, and even a Pickup. They would be the most refined and road-friendly models with performance to match a changing consumer marketplace and faster roadways. The engines in these models would grow from the original 948cc to a 1098cc, utilizing a taller block providing a longer piston stroke. It would gain horsepower and 20% more torque, along with a higher top speed of 78 mph through better 4.22 axle gearing. Additionally, the front brake drums were increased in size for better stopping power, a stronger gearbox with revised synchros & larger clutch, and front turn signal/marker lights became one combination unit. Inside, the steering wheel was a 2-spoke safety design; new toggle switches were implemented on the dash along with black faced instrumentation, and a covered glovebox with a hinged door. Offered here is a 1967 Morris Minor 1000 Traveller, also referred to as the Estate Wagon, finished in classic Black with a Cherokee Red Vinyl interior, and Old English White grill, wheels, and pinstripe. It is further accented with a red pinstripe on the body and wheels. The exterior wood framework is believed to be mostly original and very nicely refinished during restoration. A very sharp combination! Under the hood lies the correct 1098cc Series V 4-cylinder OHV engine with single SU carburetion, mated to the 4-speed transmission with correct finned alloy case. Features include heater/defroster, dual fender-mounted rearview mirrors, windshield washer, electric wipers, fold down rear seat, 90mph speedometer, turn signal switch with correct green flasher bulb at the tip, barn door style rear entry; and chrome bumpers, door handles, hood hinges, gas cap, and exhaust tip! It retains all original Triplex window glass, spare tire stowed at the rear with jack. Our example features a few upgrades to further enhance the enjoyment of driving it around town. These include slightly larger 175/70R14 radial tires giving superior road grip and attentive maneuvering, a Kenwood AM/FM/CD audio system with Bluetooth technology for hands-free mobile phone usage, and fully insulated interior cabin with FatMat material underneath the carpeting. The dashboard, door sills, steering wheel, and shift rod have all been professionally airbrushed in a very unique faux woodgrain finish that is really quite attractive! Around town, you will be hard pressed to find a more entertaining vehicle to drive! It is truly splendid in all departments, offering easy starts, surprising power, perfectly straight steering, super confident braking, and capabilities of cruising highway speeds with utter confidence! Although small in stature, it offers excellent interior space for taller drivers with wonderful visibility! This example shows a very well executed restoration that was completed many years ago, but the paint continues to remain smooth and glossy with only minor indications here and there that it has been enjoyed. It is very honest driver that should impress the next owner as much as it has our team here at the St. Louis Car Museum! Please feel free to call with additional questions, or to schedule a chance to review it in person. We look forward to working with you!
