| 55 T-Bird in good condition for the most part. Well documented historical records. No evidence car was restored..Clock and windshield wipers do not work. Radio is after market. Most parts that were replaced are still available. Pitted chrome parts were either rechromed or replaced. T pot carb and manifold replaced with 57 parts. Paint, top and interior in good condition. All new tires Transmission and overdrive shifts smoothly. The 292 engine runs strong on road but runs rough at idle below 1000 rpm. Not sure of problem but cleaning and / or replacing spark plugs helps. Compression OK ( 6 cyls @ 130, 1 cyl at 110, 1 cyl @ 100). Uses approx.1 quart of oil / 500 miles. No evidence in records that engine was ever rebuilt but mileage appears correct, For the most part there are no serious rust problems. Except for some surface rust on the under carriage, there are rusted-through spots on the inner rocker panel on the right side (2 spots). Outer panel is ok. I have owned the car since 2013 and put about 6000 miles on it. Never drove it in the rain or snow.Two previous owners .located in CA and TX. The car presents itself well on the road (lots of thumbs up) and it has been shown at local car shows. | |
