Up for sale is my 1966 Sunbeam Tiger Mark 1A. This car has spent its entire life within 10 miles of my home with only two owners besides myself. I first saw this car at a house next to a school that I used to go to T-ball practice at when I was about 10 years old so in the early eighties. Over the years I would see the car there from time to time. Fast forward to two years ago and while attending my daughters first grade end of school year fair (same school I played T-ball at) I noticed that the people with the car were having a yard sale. I had to at least go and meet them. At the time they would not sell the Tiger but I did buy an Alfa they had. As I drove past their street everyday I would occasionally stop and chat with them. Needless to say I ended up buying the car. I really don’t want to sell the car but I just don’t see myself completing the car the way it deserves. This car has extensive historical provenance, documents, and rare parts that someone in this special community will certainly cherish. The car runs very well. It has very little minor rust from sitting. As far as I know the car is complete besides the rear window and rear window trim for the hardtop and the tool kit. The wheels on the car are genuine Carroll Shelby wheels purchased in 1981. The wheels are in excellent shape with no rash or damage. They will likely clean up very well. The wheels have their original caps and the original boxes that they shipped in. The lug nuts are also Carroll Shelby originals with the original packaging. The car also has its original wheels, beauty rings, and chrome caps with 65 date codes and it’s original spare. The engine is original to the car but was upgraded in 1967 by the first owner at the dealer the car was purchased from with genuine Ford Hipo heads, a High Energy Cam, High Energy Hydro lifters, a Holly carb, Eldlebrock intake, and a Mallory dual point distributor. The original heads are included as well as the solid lifters, cam, and original carburetor. There are documents with the cam and lifter specs as well as serial numbers and such. The air cleaner and valve covers are genuine East Coast One products and there are letters to and from the company owner and the car owner answering questions that the car owner had. The car includes an extensive collection of documents and publications as well as Sunbeam Tiger books and an original Rootes shop manual. The car is published in several of the Tigers East publications. The steering wheel needs restoration as the wood was in poor shape. I removed the wood so it’s ready for a wheel shop to restore. The gauges all work and will clean up well. All the glass besides the aforementioned rear window for the hardtop is in excellent shape and a rare set of NOS “glass” side pop out windows for the hardtop are included. There is a small area of rust in the rear passenger side floor where a set of seat belts were installed. There is also rust at the bottom of the passenger side fender behind the wheel. The rockers and sills are solid as well as the integrated frame. There are a lot of rare NOS parts that are included with the car. Also, every part that was removed to sand and primer the car are bagged and labeled. Most of the chrome parts are in excellent shape and there are also numerous new chrome parts included. The are some NOS genuine Rootes Parts with Rootes packaging. There is a fair amount of new rubber seals and such as well. There are several rare NOS lenses that are included as well. *NOTE* there are two Lucas lenses in the pictures that are not Tiger. I don’t know why I didn’t catch it at the time. The fan shroud and Rootes washer bottle are included but not on the car at the moment. The hardtop is the original steel hardtop and has no rust. The headliner padding is in good shape and the headliner bows are included. The chrome side trims are in excellent shape and all the latches besides the two front main latches have good chrome. The two front latches are included but the chrome is in poor shape. The soft top frame is in excellent shape as well. The seats are in pretty good shape besides the foam on the base of the passenger side seat. Seat sliders/ mounts are clean and function smoothly. All of the exterior trim is in excellent shape. There are numerous extra NOS emblems and trim. The car has its original Rootes keys as well as a rare Rootes Leather fob and rubber key holder that was offered by the dealer at delivery to use when the car was in for service. The original jack, spare, spare hold down, battery tray, and wood battery guard are included. I tried to take good pictures that show the car and what is included as well as I could. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have and I’ll answer them as promptly as possible. Local inspection is welcome and encouraged. There should be over 160 photos below. The preview option did not allow me to view the full description so hopefully those photos are visible. If not I can provide them to whomever would like to view them. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipMFIHvpXay5AHX9C_EHYpf0HMezKpCssSyKGrk1dtBWnyIwBLBmkDRdmWAtc4sixQ?key=aHlOSXpNLWlLSHBjdU9SS2dYbVRnRU1OWlQ4dW1R |
