CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER | |

I found this ES sitting in front of a garage in the back yard of an old house here in Santa Fe, NM. It has been sitting in the same spot since 1997. The owner bought a new car back then and just parked it. I bought this to restore. This is the third 1800ES I have owned and would not have bought it if I did not believe it to have "good bones" and a strong foundation for a restoration. With the current situation in our country I must sell it unfortunately along with other toys I have.Normally, desert cars avoid rust but because his driveway, as you can see in the picture had gravel and grass and the tires were deflated, it sat near the ground causing damage to the rockers, lower fenders and jack points. The frame is solid as are the inner rockers. The jack points have rusted. These are all typical areas for these cars.Good glass all around. The hood and areas around the windshield have surface rust but very fortunately no rust-though holes. The gas tank area may look rusty but it is just residue and paint loss. There is eveidence of a prior dent repair to the nose where it meets the headlight but it is perfectly straight and well executed.I totally recommishioned the car mechanically in order to make it a driver. I have receipts for the work done. All new:fuel tank fuel pumpfuel senderfuel injectorsspark plugsRadiatorHosesWater pumpBatteryPlug wires / capBeltsFront brake calipersMaster cylinders for both brake and clutchrebuilt rear calipersRear suspension strapsTiresProbably moreThe car comes with the factory wheels - I put on a set of vintage Ronal style wheels that were marketed for these cars back in the day. They are wider and suit the car nicely. It needs upholstery although the rear seats are very nice. The car has not been cleaned since it I got it. It is dusty inside and out. Fortunately, no rodents moved in and interior does not smell. The dash has usual cracks. I am including NOS upper and lower dash pad - not a dash cover but actual pads. I am also including NEW badges for the whole car as they have long since been missing.A factory shop manual is included. If you are a Volvo restorer / colector - you know that almost every bit is available to restore these cars. Complete interior kits, carpet, steel repair panels, mechanicals, etc.The car runs and drives and stops as it should. I have not put a lot of miles on it since so I would caution those brave enough to try and drive it home. It needs miles to sort out any additional bugs it may have, however, it fires right up, has good compression and does not smoke.I have not tested the overdrive yet here in town but could take it out on the highway and test if that is a deal breaker. The AC is disconnected - no belt. I highly doubt after all these years that it will hold a freon charge. However, it is all there inside and out and appears in good physical condition. The buy-it-now price is set in order to prevent me from taking a too big of a hit finacially but also provides you with a lot of room to easily invest 10-15K and not loose a dime. Sold as-is where is. It's an old car and guarantees are implied. All sales are final. PLEASE STUDY THE PICTURES, DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND RESEARCH THESE CARS AND THEIR VALUES AND RELATIVE RARENESS. The support community is huge.Due to the virus I can hold the car for upwards of 4 weeks. I suggest U-Ship website for bidding on your shipment or I can provide the name of a guy who has delivered several cars for me and is affordable. |
