In the late forties Harley Earl's design studio did some studying of European cars. One of the styling cues that GM borrowed from t he Europeans was the fast back coupe that actually was mostly from Italian and French influence. While the fastback idea showed up in all The GM Cars, the biggest hit was The Cadillac as it had the very first fins that stood out against the sloping trunk. Between the 61 and 62 series were some 13924 production units made. Apart from rocker mouldings and interior trim, the two series were identical. Our 61 Series is a highly restored example that will make the new owner proud to own. The interior is finished the original type vinyl piped in a dark brown. The previous owner had the Vinyl tastefully embossed with The Cadillac V and crest done tone on tone on the back of each seat. While this element was not offered by the factory, it adds some sophistication to the interior much like Bentley and Rolls Royce offers on their new cars presently. The Ardsley Green paint is virtually flawless and lends itself well to complement the lines of the car as well as a delightful contrast to the tan interior. The chrome finishes are done to great detail and quality furthering the extensive restoration preformed to this car. To further accentuate the glamour of this stunning Cadillac, Wire wheels wrapped in Coker Classic radial white walls were added giving it exceptional drivability. Moving this Series 61 down the road is the, new to the 1949 line up, 331ci. Kettering V8 backed by a smooth operating Hydra-Matic transmission. The car powers down the road with ease, comfort, and free from rattles. Everything works as it should. We don’t believe you will feel any disappointments after seeing this car. It is ready to show or just enjoy driving with great pleasure. While we have not had the opportunity to show this car, we believe that the quality of the restoration would more than likely bring the car a score in the high nineties at any event.
