1957 BMW Isetta 300. This car was found in a field in the early 70's by my mother-in-law and brought home. The car was completely sprayed down with primer, including the chrome and windows (unfortunately). The engine and transmission was taken apart, and left in boxes. I got the car in the late 90's and I started to slowly and lovingly restore her. After many years and many set backs, I finally completed the car. The off-frame restoration was completed around 2005 and every piece was removed, cleaned, restored, or purchased a replacement. Engine and transmission was rebuilt by Isetta Johns and the parts were purchased from Isetta Johns and Isettas-R-Us. I chromed many of the small parts of the car to make an impression like the door hand, grab handle inside, sun roof latch handle, slide handle buttons and handles, slide window trim as well as the bumpers and nerfbars. The car has won several Best of Show trophies, as recent as August 2019 and as any Isetta at a car show, it grabs the attention of the crowd. Though many may have seen a picture of an Isetta, because of their popularity, few have actually seen one and even fewer have owned them. They are extremely rare and even more rare in this condition. This is not a professional restoration by a company, but rather by done by it's careful owner bolt by bolt.Serious inquires only. This is not the kind of car that you can just jump in and drive. In fact, I will not let you drive it until you have demonstrated your seriousness in the purchase. I never intended to sell this car, but maybe it's time to let another car enthusiast love her like I have and take her to the next level. Thanks for your interest. |
