CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
Selling my super-clean 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe. Black on black, 200 CID Inline 6 with 3 speed automatic transmission. I believe I’m the third owner of this California car that was originally built in San José, CA. Effort has been made to modernize where it makes sense to make it a safe and reliable daily driver while maintaining its original look. Upgrade Highlights:• Wilwood front disc brakes with vacuum assist and a modern dual bowl master cylinder – a great improvement over stock• New springs and shocks up front (car sits more level like a V8)• New rear shocks• Newer whitewall tires with plenty of tread• New weather-strip for tight trunk seal• New Pertronix Ignition Kit• Newer aluminum radiator and hoses• Newer carpets• New headlights• New thermostat and evacuation system• New oil pan gasket• Tons of other new parts installed: window crank assemblies, glove box, running lights/lenses, valve cover, air cleaner, spare tire mount, etc. – too many to list – everything to make the car complete and fully-functioning• Comes with four original spoke hubcaps which are in incredible condition for their ageThis is not a restored show pony – it's a well maintained survivor that runs great and gets a lot of compliments from its black on black OG look. Car is complete and in-tact like it just rolled off the assembly line – a rarity given most Mustang’s you see for sale have been neglected or hacked on throughout their lives and poorly retrofitted with an array of crappy accessories, aftermarket parts, etc. The only things not functioning properly that I can see is the fuel gauge and the newer OG-style stereo. I think the fuel gauge itself is fine but suspect that the Fuel Tank Sending Unit (which was replaced by previous owner) may not have been installed correctly. Gauge works but reads just over half when tank is actually full. The stereo works intermittently, and I just haven’t gotten around to figuring out if it’s poorly grounded or wired incorrectly by previous owners – but it’s new and has mobile phone sync (says my daughter who cares about that stuff).Chrome and glass are in good condition throughout. Black paint has a number of etched imperfections, some thin areas and minor clear coat scratches and some cracking of the paint directly below the fuel tank filler neck (common). MANY hours have been spent on a deep restoration of the paint so that it looks the best it can without doing a full-blown repaint. I’d give it a 6 or 7 but I’m picky on paint and black shows everything. Interior is neutral and immaculate – almost entirely original with lots of chrome touches. Newer black carpets, almost no wear on upholstery, functioning seats, working lights, gauge cluster, switches, clean dash, perfect headliner, steering wheel, complete center running console, climate controls, etc. It’s all there and looks new. Actual miles unknown. No clue whether the engine is original/matching for those who care about that. Rear suspension and rear brakes are original setup. Car has been gone through mechanically bumper to bumper with an emphasis on fixing what was needed to make it reliable, safe and comfortable – (I have teen drivers). This classic Mustang is a comfortable, great cruiser and its only blemish is it has a salvaged title from the original owner. Car was stolen but recovered and therefore deemed “salvaged” at some point. Vehicle has been inspected previously and has a report that “vehicle has no rust and has not been in any accident from what I can see and feel.” Car is ALWAYS garaged, pampered and doesn’t get that many miles logged on it. I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have if I’m able and I have title in-hand. I'd also be willing to post specific pics of things you'd like to see so you can buy with confidence – just ask!
