HISTORYThis car was found as a low mileage New Mexico car, had been sitting in a dry environment since the early 70’s. Over the last few years it has undergone a nut-and-bolt off-frame restoration and has been lightly used since then.(more on next page) UPGRADES Disc Brakes in front, with dual master cylinder and Hydratech hydraulic power brake booster, which stops the car incredibly fast for a car of this size and vintage. New Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission - huge improvement from the original “Slim-Jim” trans. New mIni starter - more powerful & reliable. Custom headers & 2” exhaust - engine breathes and sounds far better than with the skinny factory single exhaust. Carburetor - Edelbrock 4 Barrel Good Year Radial Whitewall tires - classic looks with modern radial performance and comfort MSD electronic ignition Underdash gauges for water temperature & oil pressure Modern stereo system (in trunk), installed without cutting or removing original am radio, works via hand held remote and has plug for iPod, etc. Dynamat insulation in doors and under carpet keeps the car cool & quiet. ENGINE/TRANS Rebuilt, balanced, blueprinted 394 V8 by Ross Racing Engines in Niles, OH. New pistons, rods, crankshaft, oil pump, valves, guides, lifters & cam (i.e. every internal part new) Hardened valves & valve seats for unleaded fuel Finned aluminum Offenhauser valve covers All new fuel lines, fuel pump, etc. Engine has been completely broken in and runs smooth & strong. SUSPENSION/FRAME Frame and all suspension parts sandblasted and powdercoated satin black. Suspension completely rebuilt using all new parts, incl. springs, shocks, ball joints, control arm bushings, heavy duty sway bar, etc. Car has been lowered 2” from stock, using custom ordered front & rear springs. Stance and handling is much improved from stock, with no clearance issues whatsoever. Original true rack-and-pinion steering is tight and works great. EXTERIOR Body was chemically stripped to bare metal prior to prime & paint. Painted in correct Turquoise Poly and Provincial White (roof) in 2 stage solvent based urethane. Underside of body was stripped and coated in black POR-15 satin paint. New rubber body mounts installed prior to mounting on frame. All stainless & aluminum straight and polished.Bumpers & trim re-chromed. All new rubber weatherstrip & window channels, new windshield. Original correct yellow California license plates. INTERIOR New three-tone upholstery using exact pattern, fabric and vinyl from SMS Auto Upholstery. Restored door panels by SMS, exact factory specs. New carpet, headliner, dash pad, packet shelfAll gauges work except factory idiot lights (bypassed for underdash gauges) Original rolling ribbon speedometer goes from green to orange to red, depending on your speed!
