EUREKA! You have either intentionally or purposely discovered what may be the finest amalgamation of original and modern interfaced parts to create this beautiful specimen of a vehicle. We literally get stopped wherever we go with people wanting to look at it and talk about it. Original FACTORY 4x4 1960 Ford F100 (not the ‘58 and previous aftermarket 4x4 units). It is currently powered by a 3.9L diesel Cummins 4BT (42,000 mi~) and married to a 5 speed New Venture 4500 (NV4500) followed by the indestructible Atlas II transfer case. Featuring power disc brakes, power steering and A/C, you can have the classic vehicle experience without giving up the amenities of the 21st century. Furthermore, the truck has a Currie built Ford 9 inch axle in the rear and a Dana 44 axle in the front with 3.70 gearing (less than 2,000 mi on new axles) mounted to 35” tires (approx 80% left on tires). The truck cruises at about 70-75 mph on the freeway smoothly, with a top speed of about 85 mph. All updated gauges work and are in great condition. Paint: When the stars align and a color fits the era, body style, and overall lines of a vehicle, true beauty is discovered. This 1960 Ford F100 is clad in beautiful factory-correct Academy Blue. There is some (slight) surface rust with a few scratches and one small dent where someone bumped into my rear tail section in a parking lot and was not kind enough to leave a note (see pics). Driveability: Sitting behind the wheel at 65 mph, you would never know you were driving a nearly 60 year old truck. She drives straight and absolutely NO bump-steer. We (T&J Performance and myself) spent an an enormous amount of time and money to make sure the vehicle would drive like a modern vehicle. Electrical: The entire electrical system was removed and a new harness and fuse block were provided and custom installed; new headlights installedRunning Gear/Drivetrain: So the original transfer case input shaft snapped. Like I always do, I did it right: Pulled out all the running gear and replace with new AND BETTER. Let’s start with the transmission: We decided in order to be period correct, we would stick with a standard gear-box. What better manual tranny is there on the planet than the venerable NV4500-5 speed with new flywheel and clutch (over 12k). This was then mated to a brand new custom-built Atlas II transfer case with twin sticks (over 4k). BTW: a new rear main seal was installed at this time as a precautionary measure. New transmission support bracketry and complete underbelly protection custom built to protect this investment. Axles: All new Currie axles were built front and rear, Ford 9” in the rear and Dana 44 in the front. Each pumpkin has been outfitted with 3.70 gears and a mechanical locker in the rear. All new leaf springs, hangers and hardware were replaced with again, the best: Deaver Springs. Frame/Body: The Frame is as straight as an arrow with all lines on the truck matching nicely - especially for its age. Brakes: All new brake systems installed - from the pump to each caliper and wheel brake cylinder. This truck stops on a dime with no pull! General: The engine was pulled and the firewall and all interior of the engine bay painted in semi-gloss paint - it looks beautiful. We had a custom oil recovery system fabricated for the oil that typically spits out of the 4BT (that is how it is designed). However, we wanted to be earth conscious and collect the oil as much as possible. We have receipts for all the work and parts that went into the truck. Well over 70K has been invested into this truck. Reason: because doing it the wrong way is unacceptable!A list of how the truck is currently outfitted.Cummins 4BTNV 4500 (Custom built by T&J Performance)Aluminum radiator (Custom built by Ron Evans with A/C control - cost over $1,400-)Atlas II transfer case 4:1 (Custom built by Advance Adapters)Currie built Ford 9 Inch rear axle 3.70 ratios(Custom built by Currie)Dana 44 front axle (Custom built by Currie)Power steering (factory pump) with Custom high-steer and knuckles build by T&J Performance) (Turns on a dime and with 1 finger)Power brakes (Custom installed by T&J Performance)A/C (Blows extremely cold - see thermal test in pics)Reinforced frame at steering gear boxHi-steer cross-overAll new front-end tie rods, drag link, heim joints, etc.Completely Re-wired with new harness/fuse-blockNew power steering pump and steering complete with new pitman arm, etc New steering column with all new custom u-joints to go around obstructions for steering shaft and custom painted to match Academy Blue (IDIDIT)New electric fans with shroud with auto/off/on override switchNew gauges (installed prior to our ownership).
