CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
A True Barn find was pulled out of its cocoon 4 days ago from hibernating since 1997. It was an awesome experience to be there as this great car was removed from its dry storage. This Cougar is a true XR7 has a 302 automatic with power steering. This car has a little documentation found in the glove box to show three owners since 1979. The Cougar had a fender bender and was parked. I was told the tires were two weeks old when parked and they look it still have the rubber nubs all the way around. I was also told that the car had the engine gone through just prior to parking it. I have turned the motor over by hand and verified it does turn freely and is not seized. I have purchased a brand new battery for it but have not installed it. I wanted to give the new owner the same feeling that I had pulling it out of the barn. I have not washed or cleaned the car nor do I intend to. You are buying a true barn find. I was given a new set of tail lights to go with the car they are used but in great condition. The quarter panel needs to be pulled and it can be saved easy fix as there is no damage to trunk, no damage to wheel wheels, etc, the damage is Outer skin only. The doors and trunk close with ease and are solid as a rock. Amazing to be hiding away for so long and still shut like they were new. The interior is all there has a small rip in headliner that’s in the photographs, the drivers seat has some splits, etc. come on it’s needing a complete restoration but how often do you see a survivor likes this. This is not a rust bucket like most you see. I have too many projects right now or I would be diving in head first to restore this gem. Vinyl top needs replaced, it is original and splitting from being dry and aged. The rear window area that normally is rusted out and gone is solid. I felt around and found one rust bubble on the drivers side that is solid doesn’t cave when pushed on and two on passenger side that were the same they are solid I photographed them both for your inspection. The Cougar was repainted at some point in its life the original color was a lighter green I believe they called lime ice. This is a terrific car with virtually no rust. Take a minute to look over the pics. I have more pics available if wanted. This is your chance to own a true barn find 1968 Mercury Cougar XR7.Shipping is buyers responsibility, I do have the car for sale locally and do reserve the right to end the auction early. The title is clear and in my hands this is a great opportunity to own a classic at a fraction of the cost.
