Pro Street-style 1960 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 tribute – between the super-slick PPG 2006 Corvette Z06 LeMans Blue paint with its gloss black stripes and the massive big block engine, this frame off restored car is sure to make your heart beat fast!Under the hood of this beasts is a stout 502 CID V8 engine (built by Dino’s Racing Engines), which is equipped with a Callies crank and forged Mahle 10.5:1 pistons. A set of ceramic coated Hooker headers funnel the spent fossils into a massive 3-inch stainless steel dual Magnaflow exhaust with huge polished stainless megaphones on its side exits. Fire it up, and it crackles and pops like a race car; but under normal driving, the sound is just right. Nail the gas, though, and you’ll think you’re in a Nascar racer – which, in part, you are: the roll cage is a Nascar cage. The big 502’s power is sent to the rear end via a built reverse manual valve body 400 turbo transmission, controlled by a Hurst ratchet shifter. A stout Ford 9” rear houses a set of 3.73:1 gears, which makes this a wicked Camaro suitable for both street and strip. The 3rd-member is equipped with a 4-link setup, complete with adjustable coil-overs keep the Global West tubular upper and lower control arms properly damped, enhancing the handling. If one looks closely, they’ll notice that nearly everything underneath has been powder coated in a mottled gray finish, as have been the inner fenders in the engine bay, the core support for the radiator, and the tops of the valve covers… they match and look great! When it comes time to slow down, the driver will appreciate the four-piston SSBC Force10 brake calipers and drilled and slotted rotors up front; along with the four-piston Wilwood calipers and rotors out back. There’s even an adjustable brake proportioning valve, enabling the pilot to dial in the brake bias to their preference. Weld Racing aluminum wheels are at all 4 corners, shod by 165/80R-15 skinnies up front, and massive 315/60R-15 Mickey Thompson ET Drag Radials out back, which also fit nicely in the tubbed rear, and give it a real “Pro” stance.Moving inward, the custom gray and black two-tone interior is done in a durable burlap cloth and features custom Z28 embroidered emblems in both the head rests and the rear parcel area. RCI 5-point racing harnesses deep driver and passenger securely tucked into their places, and a complete set of AutoMeter ProComp gauges, housed in a carbon fiber-look dash, help keep the driver informed of critical engine stats. There’s even a carbon fiber NOS bottle – which is there for show and is ready to be plumbed in should its new owner need a little extra top-end punch.Text Steve @ 484-345-9314 |
