Now available is a well-preserved and well-maintained 1979 RX-7 GS with only 34K miles. The car is mostly original/stock with a few exceptions. It has been garage-kept since I’ve owned it and its condition suggests it’s been garage-kept for most of its life. There are some manuals, receipts, and other documentation that comes with the car. If you have any questions or comments, please send me an email. Thanks for looking...Interior – The seats, carpet, headliner, dash, etc are all original and in excellent shape. All the gauges work as they should with the clock the only thing with an issue, in which it runs intermittently. The spare tire is the original Bridgestone tire on a steel rim (Mfg. date of 12/78) and still holds air. Some padded sound proofing material has been placed in the rear portion of the car behind the carpet, can’t be seen but makes quite a difference in the noise level. The center console was modified (as in cut to fit) by a previous owner in order to install a different radio than the stock radio. Instead of searching for a stock radio and center console I opted to put in a newer model receiver and chose a decent sound system over the stock radio and to use the original but modified existing center console. Front and back speakers were replaced and a small powered sub-woofer was also installed to help with those quality tunes. The sub-woofer is tucked in behind the passenger seat on the floor and can be easily removed.Exterior – The exterior of the car is in very good shape with no major damage or rust. I rate the paint as fair. Although it looks great in the photos and driving down the road, there are some issues with the paint. Portions of the car have been repainted, the hood by a previous owner and the roof and back portion due to some minor damage during a shipping incident. The people who did the paint matching did an excellent job. There are several door dings, a ding and a couple of blemishes on the hood. All the glass, wheels, bumpers, trim, etc are in excellent shape.Mechanical – The engine starts right up and runs great. The engine, transmission and drive line are all original, not replaced or rebuilt. Other than what’s listed in the Disclosures section, there are no mechanical issues. I’ve replaced parts as needed due to wear and/or age. No major restoration has been done, only minor work to keeps things looking good. The engine compartment is very clean, for instance, all the rubber hoses, lines, etc are still soft and supple. There are no leaks of oil, coolant, etc. A non-stock electric cooling fan for the A/C was installed by a previous owner. The tires are Bridgestones with about 12k miles on them. The battery is brand new.Included with the car will be an old-school nose bra with the RX7 emblem. Never used it and I think it’s missing a support strap. Also included are the Owner’s Manual, Service Manual, both the red ‘Workshop Manual’ and the ‘Service Highlights’ manuals, and several full-page ads from back in the day.Disclosures – There is sometimes clutch chatter when the engine and drive train are cold. After it warms up, it goes away. The A/C compressor makes a light whining noise when engaged and the A/C system requires a recharge every couple of years or so but otherwise works great. There is a split in the vinyl spare tire cover but it’s only cosmetic since it’s covered up by the carpet.Summary – If you’re looking for a turn-key early 1st gen RX7 with low miles, this could be the one. It’s fun to drive and that rotary engine just wants to wind up and go. It’s a pleasure knowing you’re driving a 40 year old rotary-powered car and that everything is working right (not to mention having decent tunes)....The vehicle is being sold AS IS, with no guarantee or warranty.
