We love buying cars out of Montana as, more often than not, they end up being rust-free, super impressive survivors. This car is no exception. When we got the car it had been in storage for about fifteen years (last registration was 2003), so it wasn’t what we’d call road-ready. We had a brake service done (wheel cylinders, shoes), starter replaced, and both mufflers replaced (one had a hole), so now the car does run, drive, and stop very well. The car still needs the tires replaced (old and dry) and the ignition switch looked at (finicky, wiring sometimes needs a jiggle in order to spin over), but those will be for the next guy to iron out. Exterior: Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. Blemishes are all shown close-up, though there are few. Imperfections include some little age-related blotches in the clear (see the hood in the walkaround video, as that’s the most significant blotch), as well as a couple touched-up chips and a light door ding on the drivers’ side. The car has been repainted what looks like just once, and the dark red color is correct (Madeira Maroon). Chrome is fantastic – bumpers are mirror-like, with no oxidation or pitting. Even the rocker trim is very, very nice, and there is no bubbling hidden behind. Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. Panel fitment is spot-on throughout, and the doors open and close nice and smoothly. Weatherstripping is quite good, not dry-cracked or crumbling. Wheels are very nice, with no curb rash or other damage, but again the tires are old and should be replaced straightaway. Interior: Please defer to the photos and video. Interior is quite good, original and honest, consistent with the rest of the car. Black “imitation leather” is free of any punctures or noteworthy scuffs, and the seats feel good, not blown out or shedding their stuffing. Dash top is very nice, with just the tiniest little crack forming at the corner of the inlet above the glovebox, extremely minor. This car is missing the sun visors and interior trim pieces that go along the upper window line, so while the headliner looks like it’s sagging in the rear, it’s actually just not buttoned-up by the interior trim pieces. Headliner is brand new, done under our ownership. Black carpeting shows its age a bit by way of some fraying, but no significant discoloring or sunbleaching. Radio is functional. Polished center console is free of significant pitting/oxidation but could use some cleaning up in order to really pop. Gauges are all functional, and a tachometer and temp gauge have been added below the dash. Five digit odometer reads 45,160 and does turn, but we are unsure of true chassis mileage. The engine is of course not original, having come out of a 1969 big block Chevelle. Lights and signals are all good (inside and out), fan/blower is good, and this car does not have air conditioning. Underbody/Under the Hood: Please take a look at the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. Underbody is excellent. Bone dry, rock solid, no through rust, nothing more than minor surface on exhaust components. Very much a strong point of the car. This car runs and drives quite well despite having spent the large majority of the last fifteen years holed up in a Montana garage. The car fires right up, idles nice and steady, pulls HARD through the gears, shifts smoothly and on-time, tracks straight down the road, and brakes straight and effectively. It won’t take much to get this car fully dialed-in, and oh how cool it’ll be then.
