There are no signs that the car has had any major accidents of any kind and the car looks extremely impressive in it's 'Carousel Red' color paint with a matching 'Red' interior and the car has all the correct 'Judge' logos etc and the dashboard, the soft top and headliner, the carpets and all the seats are in absolutely exceptional condition throughout and the spare wheel with it's jack is in the trunk. The original date correct Pontiac 400/330HP (XV code) engine is extremely strong and powerful and sounds absolutely magnificent and this particular car literally drives as new - must be driven to be fully appreciated - drives straight as an arrow with no strange road wobbles, shakes or rattles - a truly remarkable daily driver that will give any modern day sports car a run for it's money! The transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears and the temperature always remains cool! The car also boasts a date correct Pontiac Posi 10 bolt rear end.Pontiac introduced a new model called "The Judge" in 1969. The name came from a comedy routine, "Here Come de Judge", used repeatedly on the Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In TV show and made popular by comedian Flip Wilson. Advertisements used slogans like "All rise for the Judge" and "The Judge can be bought". As originally conceived, the Judge was to be a low-cost GTO, stripped of features to make it competitive with the Plymouth Road Runner. The package was $332 more expensive than a standard GTO, and included the Ram Air III engine, Rally II wheels without trim rings, Hurst shifter (with a unique T-shaped handle), wider tires, various decals, and a rear spoiler.Pontiac altered the GTO's styling for 1970, giving it a new Endura nose with exposed headlamps, bodyside creases, and a revised rump. However, the 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge was all about unbridled muscle car performance. Few muscle cars made a bolder visual statement than the 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge. "The Judge" decals returned, multihued stripes appeared over the bodyside creases, and the 60-inch rear wing now stood high and proud on the tail. Some Judges also got a matte-black fiberglass chin spoiler. 'Orbit-Orange' remained an exclusive Judge color and was teamed with combination blue/orange/pink stripes. "The Judge," observed Road Test magazine, "is not for people who are shy about being looked at." But there was also no shortage of substance here. Both 400-cid V-8s came with functional hood scoops (an underdash knob controlled air flow) and Pontiac finally made a rear sway bar standard and sharpened handling further with a beefier front bar, softer springs, and revised shock valving. The introduction of variable-ratio power steering also improved response. The Judge was initially offered only in Carousel Red, but midway into the model year, a variety of other colors became available. The Judge came standard with the Ram Air III, while the Ram Air IV was optional. Though the 455 CID was available as an option on the standard GTO throughout the entire model year, the 455 was not offered on the Judge until late 1970 and 'Orbit Orange' (actually a bright canary yellow) became the new feature color for the 1970 Judge, although any GTO color was available. This is a rare opportunity to own a great daily driving and never abused example of a beautifully restored with meticulous attention to detail frame off restoration of a 1970 Pontiac GTO 400 V8 'Judge' Tribute Convertible in very striking condition throughout! This is one very desirable example of one of the outstanding GM designs of the sixties, the GTO option package for the Tempest created a new type of vehicle by shoehorning a big block engine into a medium sized car - the muscle car, starting a trend lasting almost ten years before the fuel crisis of 1973! With it's lightweight body and with plenty of horses under the hood, the GTO was unlike any other car at the time. It was amazing how much torque the GTO had for an essentially stock six-passenger car and it became a legend in it's own time. The biggest advantage was it's weight, some 300lbs lighter than most later muscle cars, made this beast very quick off the line.In summary, this is most certainly one sure-fire way to get your kicks in a car that's bound to only appreciate over the years with the date correct 400/330HP 4 BBL V8 engine and has all the right options, a wonderful example of all American sixties muscle and a wonderful addition to any muscle car enthusiasts collection!
