Selling my 1938 Chevy 1-1/2 Ton Truck. This is the short wheelbase at 131 1/2" (long wheelbase was 157"). I've had this for a number of years. Originally this was a dump truck; the engine is the classic Stovebolt 6 cylinder, specifically the 216 and I also have a spare 216 as well as a spare 4 speed transmission that I will include. As far as location, the truck and parts to reassemble are located in Andover NH. The dump body along with a bunch of extra parts from parts trucks are located in Gloucester MA. You don't have to take the dump body and extra parts if you don't want them. Drivetrain: the engine, rear end and transmission are not rebuilt; the engine was a good runner so was cleaned/degreased/painted and given a proper tune-up. Engine runs well. Everything else seems to work well also. Brakes are rebuilt (new wheel cylinders/master cylinder). 6 new tires and tubes were mounted. The correct 1-1/2 ton big truck radiator was restored and that professional restoration included a new core; note the radiator that's mounted in the photos is just a 1/2 ton version that was only installed temporarily to get it running. Cab: The cab is in very good shape, and has a great roof as well (which is rare to find!). A little surface rust on the top of the cowl. The only rot is at the drivers side front corner under where the fender meets. One of the rain gutters above the drivers door is also tweaked. Rockers: great shape, they screw on under the door and are separate pieces.Doors: the drivers door and passenger doors have a line of rot at the bottom which is fairly common on these trucks. They can either be repaired or reskinned. Fenders: they were blasted awhile back to get the paint and tar off of them. They both have dents and dings but nothing too crazy; one has no rot and the other has some at the bottom rear where it meets the running board.Running boards: They were blasted and primed previously, but need a little welding and straightening to make perfect.Dump body: the last sticker on the truck was from 1949 so not a lot of use. The body itself is definitely restorable. Surface rust, few dings and dents but nothing terrible on the sides. The floor looks like a dumptruck floor. The subframe has bends where they stuck blocks of wood to hold the body up but that never works. I was going to replace the bent pieces so I kept the subframe for reference. One comment on the dump body, it's currently stored on a flatbed trailer and I no longer possess the equipment to lift it, so if you want it, you'll either need to winch it onto your trailer (on rollers perhaps) or use a ramp truck and winch it up onto the hauler bed. Alternatively, if you want the 18' flatbed trailer it's on, I'd sell that for $500 (I have a clear MA title to the trailer in my name).I believe the truck is 99% complete if not 100%. And again, the truck and all the good stuff is in Andover NH. The dump body and some extra parts (which I consider "seconds") are stored in Gloucester MA; if you don't want those, that's fine you don't have to take them; last two photos are the dump bed and the extra parts in Gloucester.Essentially, the truck just needs the body and interior taken care of, everything else is done. Please review the photos as they form a part of the description. The truck is currently stored indoors in Andover NH and I can continue to store it free of charge for 4 weeks after sale unless prior arrangements have been made. Odometer shows 58,022 miles, but I have no way of knowing if that's correct or not. Clear MA title to the truck in my name. Thanks for looking. This truck would also make a great shop truck to advertise your business. Vehicle is located in Andover NH (dump body and spare parts located in Gloucester MA) and is available for local pick up. Deposit of $1000 via Paypal due in 48 hours, balance due within 7 days via cash, bank check or wire; note all checks must clear first, including bank/cashier's checks. Vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to cancel the listing early. Please feel free to ask any questions and I’ll do my best to answer them. I can continue to store it (indoors) for 4 weeks unless prior arrangements are made. Thanks for looking. |
