1969 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 Coupe - Restore, or a great Lightweight or Low-Drag donorOverview - This 1969 E-Type 2+2 originally came from the factory in Opalescent Maroon with a Tan interior, and was later painted over in white. It was once a great GT car, with a factory-fitted automatic gearbox, power steering, and factory air-conditioning. We recently acquired this E-Type along with some other parts and projects, and would like to find the car a new home. It is in poor condition, but is complete and restorable. This project is being sold AS-IS. It is a project for total restoration - it will need everything, but it also has everything - all of the important components are intact, and the car is mostly complete. This IS a matching-numbers car - the original engine block is included with the sale. This is ALOT of E-Type for the money, and there are many options here:Restore - The 2+2 E-Type is often overlooked, and is definitely undervalued - but is coming up in value steadily. My personal E-Type, and what we call the “company car” - is a 1967 2+2 and my family has had many fun adventures in the car. This would be a long and involved restoration, but an E-Type worth restoring, and I would love to see the car restored to its former glory!Parts - On the other hand, this would also make a good donor car to complete another E-Type restoration. The suspension is completely intact and in good restorable condition, and there is a small fortune in parts on the car. I have personally sworn off “parting out” E-Types - as we parted out MANY of them in the shop where I worked as a kid, but there is no doubt that this car is worth more in parts than the total price we are asking…Donor - The car would also make a good donor for an E-Type racer project, or a low-drag replica, etc. As a Series 2, it has the larger and more efficient brakes, and includes all of the needed steering components, pedal boxes, etc. that would be needed. We do have a clear US title, and will also provide a bill of sale. The original data plate is intact, as is the original front chassis member with the matching chassis number stamped into it. For privacy, I have hidden the last 2 digits of the chassis number - this car is not yet logged into the E-Type registry, and I believe that it should be the new owners choice as to whether or when to do so... Body Shell and Bonnet -When found, this E-Type had been sitting outdoors for some time, but the bonnet was stored indoors under cover, which is why it is in better condition than the body shell of the car. The body shell has the typical E-Type rust in the floors, sills, rear wheel arches, boot floor, etc., but IS restorable - and we can help with most if not all of the panels required to do so. If you do intend to restore this body shell, the purchaser is entitled to a 20% discount on any panels purchased from us for the restoration of this car.The bonnet is a combination of original panels to this car, and some replacement panels from another E-Type. The wings and center section are Series 2, and the lower valance and inner valances are Series 3. We will happily include a pair of original and correct Series 2 inner valances with the project if you like. The body shell and bonnet are all straight and without any apparent major accident damage. The RH frame rail is bent due to what appears to have been an impact from the side to the RH front wheel.Drivetrain & Running Gear -The engine currently in the car is a later Jaguar 4.2-liter DOCH 6-cylinder, with many of the original E-Type accessories fitted, including the correct Series 2 alternator bracket and pulleys for the factory AC compressor. It seems that a previous owner removed the original engine to be rebuilt, but instead took an easier path by fitting another engine that was probably known to run. However, the ORIGINAL ENGINE BLOCK is still with the car and will be included with the sale. So if you would like to restore the car with the original matching engine, that is possible, and the block appears to be in good condition. The gearbox is the original Borg-Warner automatic unit.A radiator is not shown in the photos, but a correct Series 2 radiator for an automatic car will be included and it is in very good condition.Glass and Brightwork - The windshield is original but is cracked. The side glass and quarter windows are original Triplex pieces. The rear hatch glass is missing and not included in the sale. All of the chrome trim is intact and all appears to be straight and restorable.Interior -The interior of this car appears to have been “biscuit” originally - or a very light tan, and is all original, though in very poor condition. The covers of the seats and dash are torn up a bit, but all of the underlying framework is restorable and all of the original “hard” components needed to install a new interior kit are present and in good restorable condition. All gauges and switches are intact and original to this E-Type.Location & Shipping -This E-Type is owned by Monocoque Metalworks and is located at our shop in the state of Maryland, USA. We have worked with Schumacher Logistics in the past (as well as several others…) to ship cars to the UK, Europe, and Australia with good results, and I am sure that they could work this out for you. We have sold many E-Types over the years, and are familiar with the process of shipping them overseas. We can help you find a shipper - and safe transport to the docks in Elizabeth, NJ is available in an insured, enclosed trailer by me personally for an additional fee. Conclusion - Overall, this is a very restorable project and a great way to get into an E-Type project on a budget. OR - it is a great deal on a collection of components that can be used for a low-drag replica or lightweight build, etc. Our asking price is very fair based on the current market, but we are also willing to entertain serious, reasonable offers.MONOCOQUE METALWORKSGOOGLE US for More Info - and BID WITH CONFIDENCE - we are a long-standing firm in the E-Type community that manufactures high-quality E-Type body panels and restores E-Type body shells.
