GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY: Time to let go of our car collection. This is a low reserve auction and the Healey will be sold, on or off auction. Started collecting about 50 years ago and the main objective was to buy the best one owner, matching numbers, rust free cars for pleasure and investment. It, along with others in our collection are being sold due to the owners age/health. Here are a few examples of our 100 percent positive feedback. None of these buyers physically saw the cars they bought until they arrived at their homes: #1. 1970 Cougar Eliminator - "Car was exactly as advertised, maybe even better - THANKS Richard". (p) #4. 1966 Austin Healey 3000 - "Awesome - Exactly as described - fully trust this seller." (p) #5. 1974 TVR 2500M - "Great deal, fast shipping. Thank you sir". #6. 1972 Jaguar XKE - "Perfect car from a perfect seller - thank you my friend". (p) #7. 1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible - "Car is in unbelievable original condition - very happy". (p)#8. 1974 Porsche 914 2.0 - "Great people! Have no doubts when buying from this seller. One of the best!" (p) This particular auction is for a one owner (I am the 2nd owner) running, driving 1959 Austin Healey 100/6 BN4 roadster with the British Motor Heritage certificate of authenticity. Looks fairly ugly but don't let the photos fool you. All it needs is paint and some interior work - or drive it as it stands. Three big plusses for this car are: 1. It has a 1967 Austin Healey BJ8 engine with only 3600 miles on it. 2. It is one of the most rust free original Healeys you will ever see. 3. Equipped with factory disc wheels. (yes, I do not like wires). It is a California and Georgia car from new and was last on the road in 1969 - having only been driven in California and Georgia for 10 years before it was stored. The original owner decided to put in an almost brand new 1967 Healey BJ8 engine for more power and also some BJ8 seats. Next on his list was paint and interior work but he passed away before that happened. Car was originally all black with a red interior. Originally delivered new on January 14, 1959 to a dealer in Los Angeles California. We bought it from his son in April of 1989. Price is firm. You will not find a better Healey in this low price range. Scroll down for more photos. ENGINE: The engine is a 1967 Austin Healey BJ8, #29K/RUH/17255, putting it at the last of the Healey 3000 BJ8 engines ever manufactured. (376th from the end). It was installed in 1970 (have receipt) and only has 3600 miles on it. We removed the valve cover for inspection - check the photo of the valve train - the factory red paint is as bright as new, as are the insides of the motor. Sparkling clean with clear engine oil and it runs absolutely perfect. The owners son filled the cylinders with oil and rotated the motor every month. TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH: The transmission is an original Austin Healey 4 speed side shift with overdrive. Everything works perfectly. The transmission was removed and partially disassembled for inspection and it was like brand new inside. Shiny clean with clear oil, needing nothing. Actually looks like it had been rebuilt yesterday - probably at the same time the engine was installed. Clutch and throwout are new, having been replaced when the new engine was installed. Overdrive works fine. Rebuilt clutch slave cylinder. Dot 5 silicone brake fluid used throughout. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Very nice original compartment. Everything looks to be original and intact. Nothing appears to be missing. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Perfect original condition with no rust. Fuel tank and Lucas electric fuel pump are original and are clean, unrusted and work perfectly. Original armacord still intact. No spare wheel or tire. SHEET METAL BODY PANELS: Excellent no rust original condition. The original floors are the best rust free originals I have seen on a Healey. Door bottoms are solid as a rock. Fenders are all excellent solid originals with the exception of one isolated rust spot on the bottom of the right front fender - an anomaly - must have gotten some water trapped in that one little area at some time. No rust at all anywhere else. No bubbling. There is a little light surface bondo on a small spot on the RR fender, left and right doors but for minor dents when repainting it in silver - not rust. Front fenders are just hanging there with a few bolts. Original factory bumpers (thick). Bottoms of all fenders are fine. GLASS: Original windshield is broken and will need replacing. There are no side curtains. CHASSIS: The frame and chassis are like new. Inner and outer rockers, sills, outriggers, etc. are all excellent. One of the best unrusted solid originals on any Healey. INTERIOR/UPHOLSTERY: Will need new upholstery. BJ8 seats are fairly decent and usable as is. TOP: It has an aftermarket fiberglass hardtop. No idea who the hardtop manufacturer was but it is one of the better quality ones and fits well. No softtop or frame. Those are available at most of the parts suppliers.. (p) DASH AREA: All original gauges - The oil pressure, water temperature and fuel gauge work but the tach and speedo do not. There is no cable to the transmission for the speedo and the tach will have to be modified/adapted somehow to the BJ8 engine or another tach installed because the BJ8 engine used an electric tach and this original one is mechanical. Three auxiliary switches are not hooked up and I assume the owner was going to use them for driving lights, etc. The odometer reads 75468 and think this is correct but cannot guarantee it. The last oil change sticker on the drivers door in 1969 reads 72101. The heater is there but no heater motor. Original horns are in the trunk. Under dash area is nice and original wiring - nothing butchered or cut. Wipers work. PAINT: See the photos for what is left of the original paint. Repainted silver 200 years ago which is peeling off. It was originally Black with red interior. The more recent popular craze would be to drive it as it is to keep all the "patina" and character/history - or you could repaint it to original black - or the option of painting it purple or whatever color blows your hair back. Front shroud has some red on it - Could be paint or primer. TIRES & WHEELS: In my opiniion it has the best wheels available - factory disc wheels. Tires are brand new MRF-ZVTV 185/65/15. SUSPENSION AND BRAKES: Everything is there. It has all new wheel cylinders and master cylinder and rubber brake lines. All of the brake shoes are new but old - they are good period metallic shoes and need to be broken in - you will have very poor braking until that is done. The car has not been driven on the road - only up and down in our driveway, so sorting out of the entire car will be the first priority. Dot 5 silicone brake fluid used throughout. The handbrake and it's hardware are complete and all there but not connected at the trans tunnel. One brake light works. PAPERWORK: Free and clear title. British Motor Heritage Certificate of Authenticity. Minor old 60's receipts. FACTORY ID PLATES: The Vehicle identification ID plates are intact and correct. The vehicle serial number is BN4 LS/74659 - correct matching numbers. MISCELLANEOUS: A mostly complete running and driving mostly rust free easy project. 1969 Georgia Tech sticker. 1969 Georgia State Patrol safety sticker. 1969 Georgia license plates (do not go with car). Look at the lines and gaps - can't get much better. Exhaust is old but works fine. Sounds like a Healey should. Healthy. Positive ground 12 volts. All original wiring appears to be there but will need connecting in the front under the shroud. Lights, turn signals, etc are not connected - wiring looks to all be there though. VALUE: As of this date Hagerty Classic Car values lists the 1959 Austin Healey 100/6 at: #1 - $100,000. #2 - $52,000. #3. $31,900. #4. $19,000. INSPECTION OF CAR: It is recommended that you personally inspect the car or have a 3rd party inspect it for you. I can accommodate anyone to show them the car. I have sold roughly 30 autos and motorcycles through ebay over the past 22 years with a solid 100 percent buyer satisfaction feedback. I give buyers an honest description, a better product and a better deal than they expect. SHIPPING: Having shipped cars to all parts of the world over the years I can assist the buyer with transport or completely arrange it, only if necessary. However the cheapest and most efficient method is for the new owner to call a transport broker in their area and have them put out bids for the job. The car is in a secure place at my home and it can be collected there. I can assist with loading. A $1000 non refundable deposit via Paypal is due immediately after the auction closes. In advance, before collecting the car - This is an auction and you have plenty of time to inspect the car personally or have a 3rd party inspect the car - inspections are welcome and encouraged. Full payment is due before the car is collected. Winning the auction does not mean that you now have the privilege of coming to inspect the car to see if you like the color. If you cannot trust me, my reputation, the description and the good photos then it is your responsibility to inspect the car yourself or have a third party inspect it for you.
