This ONE OF A KIND 1968 Ford Mustang was acquired more than 25 years ago by the seller, who converted the car to a roadster. Over a period of fifteen years the roof was removed, the exterior was media-blasted, the windshield was shortened, the chassis was reinforced, and a speedster clamshell was molded into the bodywork along with a Shelby-style hood, rear spoiler, taillight panel, and side scoops. The car was refinished in blue with silver stripes, and the interior was refreshed with Recaro bucket seats, Sparco harnesses, and a Kenwood sound system. Power is supplied by a fuel-injected 427ci V8 paired with a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission, and additional equipment includes an Edelbrock intake manifold, MSD ignition, Magnaflow exhaust, 17″ Team III wheels, lowered suspension, Baer disc brakes, a roll bar, chassis bracing, a Grant steering wheel, and AutoMeter instrumentation. This second-generation Mustang is now offered with a binder of manuals, receipts, and dynamometer results as well as a clean Washington title in the seller’s name.The car was delivered new as a coupe and has been built as a speedster with a shortened windshield and a molded fiberglass tonneau cover. The exterior has been refinished in blue with silver top stripes and replacement brightwork, and features include a Shelby-style two-scoop hood with vents, side scoops, a roll bar, and a LeMans-style fuel-filler cap. The aftermarket rear valance, side skirts, trunk corners, and rear spoiler have been molded into the body, and the door handles have been removed and the resulting holes filled. The seller also notes that the fog lights are inoperable.Halibrand-style 17″ Team III wheels with three-ear spinners are mounted with 235/45 front and 255/45 rear BFGoodrich g-Force Sport Comp-2 tires, which show 2017 and 2019 date codes. The car has been lowered, and braking is handled by four- and two-piston Baer calipers on cross-drilled and slotted rotors.The cabin features manually adjustable black Recaro bucket seats with four-point Sparco harnesses. A Shelby-style console and door panels with aluminum trim have been added along with power windows.A three-spoke Grant steering wheel with a Shelby horn button sits ahead of AutoMeter instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer. The odometer shows 1,500 miles and is said to have been reset following completion of the build; true mileage is unknown.A Kenwood head unit plays through a custom audio system that includes four speakers fitted into the speedster cover, beneath which lies additional audio equipment and a body-color welded crossbar. Two additional speakers are installed in the kick panels in the front footwells, and the trunk is wired for subwoofers.A fuel-injected 427ci stroker V8 supplied by Coast High Performance makes use of an Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake manifold, MSD ignition, aftermarket pulleys, an Aeromotive fuel pump, a Griffin aluminum radiator, and Magnaflow exhaust. A Fuel Safe fuel cell has been installed. The power-steering fluid, coolant, and oil reportedly were changed in preparation for the sale.Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission and a Ford 9″ rear axle with a limited-slip differential and 28-spline axles. Traction bars and underbody braces have been added.
