LESS THAN 300 MILES ON COMPLETE GROUND UP REBUILD! NEW 347 STROKER V8, TKO 5 SPD MANUAL, DEF, PWR WILWOODS, TONS OF NEW PERFORMANCE PARTS--Cobras are on everyone's bucket list and seeing one on the road is always amazing. And if you want to be seen—Yellow is the color. (And she never looks dirty.) This one is a one owner, originally 289/4 speed, by Classic Roadsters. Complete rebuild now packs a new 347 stroker roller motor for scary acceleration, an upgraded TKO 5-speed, rear end, disk brakes, and suspension. All within 300 miles; brake-in oil still has 200 miles to go. A new paint job and new interior finish the project. The new and bright yellow paint was applied just 178 miles ago and is a great attention-grabbing shade inspired by Carol Shelby’s driver, Allen Grant's #96 Cobra racer. Black stripes and pinstriping have very fine metal flake in the surface. Finish quality is excellent! Ceramic coating sealer finish by Color In-Drive. Classic Roadsters used extra thick, top-notch fiberglass, along with real Ford door hinges, door latches, and hood latch, so everything is far superior to other Cobra’s fittings. (Checkout the other’s 1950’s door latches). Using a boxed frame keeps the twist and flex out of the frame unlike the tubing frames. This Cobra is 2” widerand 6” longer than the typical Cobra. This helps keep the car going straight during acceleration and more room in the cockpit. This longer wheel base makes for a superior race handling both on straight acceleration and roadtracks. The original chassis has 14,000 miles since factory built in 1991 (one of the remaining cars after the company closed.). I have planned this rebuild for many years and got it completed after being too old to enjoy it. There are wind wings and tinted visors, Lexan Competition windshield, andthe thick-wall roll bar is FIA height for proper helmet clearance. The restoration is finished with a completely new interior. The diamond pattern with custom yellow stitching matches the exterior. Full black carpets installed over Dyno Mat and Jute and diamond-patterned floor mats do an unbelievable job of controlling noise and heat! The trunkis nicely finished in black carpets over Dyno Mat and the same rubber diamond pattern mat that was used for the floor mats. The entire cabin is enclosed in Dyno mat, jute and carpet. Probably 40 to 50 degrees less heat. Two sets of four point racing harnesses by Racers Choice, Inc. There is a wood rimmed Moto Lite steering wheel and Stewart Warner gauges like the original. (The speedometer is a reverse-rotation speedometer like the original.)Many engines are available, but to be a true classic, you need a carbureted FORD. I chose a newly built 347 cubic inch stroker roller motor (chosen because of the 200+ pound weight savings over a 427). Ithas been augmented with a high-output Comp Cam roller cam and roller lifters, Keith Black pistons, Forged crank and rods, Voodoo rockers, Ede Scatter Shield bellhousing. There is anew Mini High Torque starter. Most all bolts and nuts are ARP high strength stainless. It spins a Performance light weight flywheel,Stage 3 and 4 ceramic plate and pressure plate. The newly rebuilt TKO 500 transmission has a forward lever position with an added short-shifter kit. A new Fast Shaft drive shaft, 8.8 Positraction re-built differential with hardened axles, 4:10 ratio, and Ford Racing axle girdles. There is an MSD electronic distributor and over size Holley electric fuel pump with AN10 stainless hosing from the tank to pressure gauge and then the carburetor. To keep her cool, there is an aluminum radiator, electric fan, front oil cooler with stainless plumbing, dual oil filters, and a high capacity water pump. There is a new 100 amp alternator with a Gilmer toothed wide belt system.(The Gilmer whine sounds super) An oval Cobra air cleaner and bright deep valve covers with 347 badges top her off. It is incredibly clean under the hood and under the car. There is a hidden Anti-Theft switch and a hidden trunk release. Upgrades to the suspension have been addedlike adjustable QA1 coil overs in front, rack-and-pinion steering, and shocks and a rear sway bar out back. Wilwood power disc brakes and Wilwood slotted rotors at each corner and outfitted with Edelbrock Halibrand-style knock-offs by Edelbrock. Lug bolts are longer and hardened. The tires are staggered 235/60/15 front and 295/50/15 rear Firestone Fire Hawk Indy 500 radials. Rear tires are 12” wide. (The tires are reversible for white lettering, if preferred.) Built for the street but easily converted to a racer, this Cobra is built to show standards and a lot more exciting than many of the replicas out there. And the above list of equipment and extras is above and beyond. After years of loving this car, and starting the total rebuild, my heart went south and 22 heart procedures convinced me to sell her. This car is titled in Texas asa 1991 ASVE with the Remarks: Replica 1966 Shelby.
