| Up for sale is a 1971 VW Type 3 Squareback. I have owned this car since 2016, and the previous owner purchased it at a Mecum auction in 2012. I have receipts and documentation that run back through 2012. The previous owner had extensive work done on the vehicle. The 1600cc flat-four was completely rebuilt by a professional mechanic to include new carbs, an electric fuel pump, and a new exhaust. It is mated to the original automatic transmission. Odometer shows 72,XXX miles. I stripped the interior with the intent of restoring it, but life got in the way of finishing the job. It is drive-able with the current interior configuration. Rear seats are in good condition and included.In May 2018 I had a local independent VW shop here in town give this car a once-over to get it into good running condition. I drove it regularly through the rest of that year and put it into covered storage in December 2018. The car sat in storage until this month, when I removed it for sale. The engine freely turns over when the ignition is engaged, but it does not start. It won't take much to get this car running, but life events mean that a new owner will be the one to make that happen. Please see photos for details and contact me with any questions.
