This 1974 Beetle is equipped with a 1,600 cc, 60-horsepower, three-cylinder engine with an external oil cooler. It generates 77 foot-pounds of torque at 2,600 RPM, and has an 83-millimeter bore and a compression ratio of 7.5:1. It has the rare AutoStick transmission, it is an automatic, 3-speed transmission that you shift. The vehicle does not have a clutch pedal and works like a modern day automatic transmission. The top of the gear shift was designed to easily depress and activate an electric switch, i.e. when engaged by the drivers hand. When pressed, the switch operated a 12 volt solenoid in turn operating the vacuum clutch, thus disengaging the clutch and allowing shifting between gears.
