CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER | |

You are bidding on a 1967 Lotus Elan. This car has been off the road since 1984. It is a matching numbers car and it doesn't appear that the engine has ever been removed from the car. I personally verified that the engine number on the VIN tag (see picture) matches the one stamped into the right side of the block below the carbs. Both are marked with engine number 7326.This is an SE version of the Lotus Elan, which has 115 HP from the factory instead of the usual 105 HP. I have not tried to turn the engine over, but you can assume that it will need a complete rebuild since it's been sitting for 35 years. As you can see in the pictures, there isn't a single rust hole anywhere on the entire frame, just some very thin scaly discoloration that will clear with sandblasting it. I have also inspected the parts of the frame that you can't see in the pictures, but that are usually rusted out on these cars, and there is no rust-out and no cracks anywhere on the frame. All the suspension components are still as straight and true as the day the car was made. It doesn't appear that this car was ever abused or involved in an accident. The seats and console don't need to be redone, just cleaned, as they are still in very good condition. The left hand corner of the front bumper is cracked, as can be seen in the picture, and will have to be fiberglassed back together.A previous owner removed the emblems and script from the body when he decided to strip the original yellow paint off years ago to repaint it, which he never finished. However, many of the original emblems and script pieces are in a bag in the trunk. If you're looking for a very original, unmolested, and un-rusted Lotus Elan to restore back to its former glory, this is the one you want. |
