CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible with GM licensed reproduction Side PipesTHIS IS A NUMBERS MATCHING CAR WITH THE ORIGINAL 350 ENGINE. ALL HAS BEEN RESTORED IN THE PAST 17 YEARS. THE PAINT IS great condition (2-Step), AND THE CAR HAS NO RUST. The story with this car: This car has been well taken care of and garaged for many years, which explains the condition of the car. My History with the car: I purchased this car 17 years ago, and mechanically, paint, interior, exterior, and electrically rebuilt the entire car. It has won many car show awards and has been published in CHEVY HIGH PERFORMANCE national magazine in November 2007 and as the cover car in a GM licensed Corvette 2011 Calendar. Both are included in sale.I rebuilt this car to be driven, and I do drive it. It is restored to original from under the hood to the interior with a few added modifications. I added an aftermarket reproduction AM/FM/Bluetooth radio which looks like the factory original. The radio reception is far superior to the OEM radio. I do have the original AM/FM Stereo radio which is included in the sale. I upgraded the points ignition system with new Pertronix electronic ignition conversion. I also upgraded the cooling system by converting the original radiator to a Dewitt's "Direct Fit" aluminum radiator. I added a GM licensed reproduction side exhaust. A smaller diameter leather wrapped steering wheel. The rally wheels are original and the center cap and trim ring are GM licensed reproductions. As you can tell, I did every thing so this car can be a driven reliably, safely and looks great. A real head turner. It is every bit as beautiful as it looks. This 1972 Chevrolet Corvette convertible hits all the high notes: a matching-numbers V8, automatic transmission, and a great color combo, like they say, “All Corvette’s are red”.So look over all the details of this classic to see how it's the perfect mix of investment and originality. This one really seems to get its total appearance right, and it all starts with the paint. This is a later application with plenty of luster. Because the folding soft top is in pristine condition, this has a terrific total coordination no matter how you drive it. Also the clear coat shine of the paint loves to highlight all the iconic pieces of this Stingray. After all, the design perfectly bends the rounded fenders with sharp elements like the well-creased door line and shark-like nose. Plus, the panels have the fit of good care an investment right down to the smooth headlight flaps and the doors you can shut with authority. These earlier C3s are also for the bright work lovers, and so the chrome bumpers, bright grilles, side exhaust, and Rally wheels come together to add to this vintage shine package. While black top give this 'Vette a sophisticated appearance, you can’t beat the look with the top down. That's because the factory-correct red give this one a European-like sensibility. The bright tones on the door panels, carpeting, dash, and newly covered bucket seats are like looking into an ocean. This classic really does a have a period-correct feel, right down to the A/C and reproduction state of the art AM/FM stereo cassette player. But more than just appearance, this one was meant to be driven. That's why you have the three-spoke sports leather wrapped steering wheel that gives you a terrific view of the large speedo and tach. Just to the side is a full auxiliary gauge panel that's mounted high so you never have to let your eyes stray too far. When you lift the hood, you can see this car is the total package. This is the original,matching-numbers 350 cubic inch V8. With all the components in top condition and the belts & hoses looking so tidy, there's nothing to get in the way of seeing the shine on the valve covers, air cleaner, distributor shield, and other chromed pieces. While the appearance is great, you also have the confidence that this original motor is fresh from a recent tune-up. The total control that turbo 400 automatic transmission gives you over the V8 and its rumbling soundtrack is another reminder of how much a driver's classic this really is. Plus, the power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and fully independent suspension keeps this one of the best vintage sports cars around.Complete with owner's manual, this Stingray provides distinction and history in a terrific drop top package. So don't miss your chance, call today!Of those it's generally noted that only 240 left that factory with factory A/C. But it's not known how many of those were convertibles many corvette enthusiasts have done the math as far as production % and it's generally assumed that less than 30 were base/AC/convertibles.This gorgeous 1972 Corvette convertible is one of these rare Vettes. Restored and documented by still having the original tank sticker on the fuel tank this Stingray belongs in any serious Corvette collector's garage. Actually not only do we have documented ownership history but each owner seemed to know exactly how rare this vehicle was and held on to every receipt that they ever spent on the car! That's right we have most of the vehicles registration history, bill of sale, etc.! All of those receipts point to one thing - Everyone who has owned this vehicle cared for it and meticulously maintained it. Today it sits in incredible shape and the current owner has owned the vehicle since he purchased it in 2003. The engine has been rebuilt back to factory specs it received a very expensive $7000 full paint job (3 base coats and 4 coats of clear/color sanded and buffed) in 2005 and today you can see that money was well spent as it clearly was performed by a shop who knew what they were doing. The soft top is in like new shape, replaced two years ago. Overall cars like this don't pop up very often. Don't miss your chance to own one of the beautiful corvettes ever to exists! Call 831-236-0355 today to find out more about this car. This 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible is an unusual combination of beauty and brawn, and includes some nice options as well as a matching-numbers drive train. Clean, original, affordable Corvettes are still out there, and the pedigree is a nice bonus for the guy looking to have some Corvette fun at a reasonable cost.Code 973 Mille Miglia Red is handsome and crisp, a familiar color that looks great on the timeless Stingray shape. It was one of the most popular 1972 colors with 2478 Corvettes built in this color, and it still looks pretty up-to-date with today's sophisticated color pallets. Repainted about 15 years ago, all the panel gaps are factory correct, and it has a nice gloss to the finish with some of the cracking in the usual spots. Aside from a few minor signs of use that could be erased with a deep buff, this sucker looks absolutely fantastic. And when it comes to C3s, you're either a chrome bumper guy or a rubber bumper guy; this one sports the original style chrome units that frame the egg crate grilles upfront and add interest to the flat rear panel with CORVETTE block letters above. The stainless trim is in excellent shape and the rear exhaust filler panel highlighting the rear is a great touch. This is one clean-looking 'Vette!Believe it or not, that code 404 black leather interior is how this car was ordered, and you have to admit that the combination works extremely well. As a well-maintained car, the line between the original components and new pieces is blurry, but that's a good thing, with new carpets working in conjunction with replacement seat covers. The entire interior shows just the right amount of patina, and it's very difficult to determine what has been replaced. The gauges are all crisp and their lenses are scratch-free, more proof that someone cherished this car from day one. This Corvette is nicely optioned with an AM/FM Stereo radio, and an automatic transmission, making it the kind of car you can drive cross-country without a second thought. Drives straight as an arrow, like a new car. The engine is the original, matching numbers 350 cubic inch V8, which was the base engine in 1972. Nevertheless, it makes an impressive amount of torque and moves the Corvette with enough potency that most cars are still advised to leave it alone. It was rebuilt not too long ago with new valve seats, pistons and rings, crank shaft bearings, cam and lifters and rods, and a rebuilt Quadrajet carburetor. The engine bay shows lots of recent work, including bright chrome details throughout plus Chevy Orange paint on the block. The original TH400 3-speed automatic transmission was rebuilt about 15 years ago, so it's a fantastic highway cruiser, and side exhaust that sounds great. It's in excellent driving condition with evidence of clean living everywhere you look, and those factory Rally wheels ride on a set of fat Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 radials.Clean, honest Corvettes don't get much nicer than this, especially if you're the kind of guy who likes to just jump in and go. Thanks to the rumbling small block under the hood it's a party to drive, and there aren't many cars that will generate more attention than this one on a warm summer day. Call today!Car is in very nice shape, and starts and drives GREAT. Power steering gear box leaks/vents a little oil, No smoke, or vibrations, and runs cool in traffic. Transmission shifts as it should, and all the gauges work, including clock.
