I can assist with financing and transport as needed. There is no mistaking the Jaguar E-Type. Since its introduction in 1961, it has remained one of the automotive world’s most endearing forms, with Enzo Ferrari calling it “the most beautiful car in the world.” Its combination of sumptuous lines and splendid performance was like nothing else before, and it continues to be one of the most desirable models for collectors around the world. This 1965 4.2L Series 1 coupe has had four owners to date. The third owner kept it almost 40 years, from 1981-2019, and performed a full restoration in the late 80’s. This was a complete nut-and-bolt effort that included several performance upgrades to the suspension and drivetrain. The car was completely disassembled and the tub sandblasted. All paint and body work was done by Motion Products of Neenah, WI. They replaced any bad metal and painted everything Porsche Guards Red for a little more pop. The paint has held up well over the years, though there are two small dings on the left side. The chrome and trim are all very nice as are the chrome knockoff wheels. The original 4.2L block had a severe crack so it was replaced with a 1968 piece during the restoration. It was bored 0.030” over and all crankshaft journals were turned down. The camshaft was done by Delta Cam Grinders to an original Isky profile and the three SU carburetors tuned accordingly. There is also an aluminum flywheel for faster throttle response. The exhaust sounds fantastic thanks to ceramic coated tubular headers and a removed center muffler. The 4-speed transmission was rebuilt as well. There are a number of other mechanical upgrades. Urethane bushings were used throughout along with larger torsion and stabilizer bars. Koni shock absorbers were installed all around, while the rear springs were replaced with 1” shorter pieces. There are brass sleeves on the brake calipers along with all brake and clutch cylinders. It all makes for a very enjoyable driving experience. The leather interior was redone with a Biscuit colored kit from Bartlett. It too has held up well for the last 30 years, especially for a lighter color. The seats are free of any rips and are quite comfortable. The door panels and headliner are also in very good condition, as are the dashboard and steering wheel. The rubber seals and footwell carpet show the most wear. All gauges function properly as do the blower motor, wipers, horn, and parking brake. The old Becker AM/FM radio with center console speakers also works. There is also a proper spare tire with knockoff hammer and jack. Almost 60 years after its introduction, the E-Type is still a big hit wherever it goes. There is simply nothing else like it, before or since. This example represents an older restoration that still looks great and is a blast to drive. It also comes with hundreds of restoration photos and receipts in electronic format along with many original parts. I think it all makes for a very nice package, especially at this price point.
