CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
Up for sale is my 1964 VW Beetle. This Beetle is part of a collection of vintage cars that I am thinning down to a more manageable level this spring and summer. Priced to sell. Clear Virginia title in hand. For the past eight years this Beetle has been garaged in Virginia and Maryland. It was restored sometime in the late 1990's. The restoration included a fresh respray of the original Java Green, replacement of the interior seat covers and door panels (originally brown), new carpet, new headliner etc. During the restoration the original engine was replaced with a larger, rebuilt 1600 size engine. Seller estimates approximately 10,000 or less miles on this engine. The paint, while not perfect, has held up well. I would describe it as looking like a show car from 15 feet... and while it would fit right in at your local car show- it is not a #1 concours car- and priced accordingly. There are no rust issues on the car. See underside photo's. Heater boxes and pans are solid but heat was disconnected when the engine was replaced. Spare tire wheel well shows some surface rust on the inside but it is solid. As shown, in the trunk is a very rare, vintage Beetle gas heater (not hooked up). There's a nice, easily removable roof rack that comes with the car. All glass is good and both windows roll up and down properly. There's an exterior radio antenna but there's no radio...currently has the radio blanking plate. The emergency brake works. In 2019 over $2,000 was spent on an oil change, tune-up, new brakes, new fuel tank, new fuel pump etc. Repair receipts come with the car. In July 2020 fresh oil change and the carburetor was rebuilt including a new accelerator pump. Starts up, runs, drives and shifts as it should. Tires are in good shape...older, but fine for around town driving. Original wheels and caps. All gauges work. A few minor things will need attending to by the new owner: horn not working, wipers are slow, engine lid does not say up on it's own and needs a new latch.** Please note that the Virginia title says this Beetle is a 1965. Somewhere along the line a previous owner (or DMV) put in the wrong year. It is a 1964. See photo of the document from the Stiftung Volkswagen Auto Museum in Germany confirming the Vin# as matching a build date of January 13, 1964 and left the factory on January 15, 1964. Also confirmed is the original factory color of Java Green, Pearl white rims and brown leatherette upholstery. The new owner should be able to fix the year error when re-titling the car with this document. The working odometer reads 87,801 miles and title states these are "actual miles". Miles on the engine is closer to 10k as per previous owner.I have a bunch of vintage Beetle parts (new and used) I'll throw in with the car. This Beetle is always garaged and on a battery tender. Happy to show the car personally or to a third party inspector with an appointment. Questions... feel free to email me through EBAY by "contacting seller". I can work with your shipper or recommend one I've used before. For closer buyers...come and drive it home!
