I bought this 1969 Firebird at the Pomona Swap Meet in CA in 1996. It was nearly all-original but was dirty and tired. After our son drove it for two years, I started an off-frame restoration that was completed in 2003. The odometer indicates 119,250 miles, but only 3,990 miles since the restoration. Since then it has been driven only to shows and cruises. I had additional work done in 2016-2017. Everything works except for the 8 Track Tape Player and the dashboard indicator lights for the turn signals (the turn signal lightst themselves work). The car is as stock as I can make it - no speed parts or after-market accessories except for a water temp gauge. Here are the specs:This is a numbers matching car - engine block and transmission serial numbers match the chassis. The original YT heads and the intake manifold were recently replaced with stock-spec Edelbrock aluminum parts. I have the original cast iron parts.Engine: 400 cu in V8, 330 HP, bored 30 over, with the original Quadrajet carbTurbo Hydra-matic 400 automatic transmissionPower steering, power disc brakesWarwick Blue with black vinyl top (original color was Midnight Green. Warwick Blue is an original equipment color from 1969)Deluxe interiorAM radio (needs some work)Dealer-installed Eight Track Tape Player with rear speakers (restored cosmetically but does not play)Rare SpaceSaver spare tire14X7 Rally II wheels Reproduction F70-14 Firestone Red Line Wide Oval tires - these are made by Coker and are radial, not bias ply The car is registered as a Colorado Collector Vehicle but also has Colorado 1969 Year of Manufacture platesCar was built in CA and didn’t leave the state until we moved to CO in 2009. I have the original (restored) black CA plates if you are interested, but they are for sale separatelyComes with lots of documentation (including PHS), partial bid sheet, service manuals, original sales brochures, and photos of the restoration.I bought and restored this car because it is different. Take it to a cruise-in or a weekend show and the odds are good that you will be the only Firebird there. It is not a Restomod. I have tried to make it a working example of what "luxury performance" was all about in 1969. It has always been garaged. It shows signs of aging, mostly in the undercarriage, but it still shines, runs great and draws attention wherever it goes. But I can no longer work on the car, so it's time to pass it on to someone who can enjoy it like I have.Contact me if you have any questions |
