Please read it all:Hello, this listing is for my 1964 Volkswagen Dune Buggy with a Spatz body as-shown. I have a clear IL title in my name. I honestly do not know too much about this thing, I picked it up earlier this year after it sat in someone`s garage for about 3-years. I spoke briefly to a prior owner who I believe built it, but they never got did get back to me with more info as they promised. This thing is pretty cool, and my 4-year old absolutely loves it, but I I am trying my hardest to get down to under 10-vehicles. I was told it has a 1500cc dual-port engine out of a 1971 Beetle pushing 10-lbs of boost and making about 120-hp. The transmission is a 4-speed. It starts right up, runs good, shifts, stops, etc. I have been driving it around my neighborhood and back yard whenever I can lately. I have not noticed any drivability issues with it. The wheels and tires are in great shape, the clutch seems strong, brakes work well, etc. From what I can tell, someone put a ton of work into this thing about 5 or so years ago. It is super clean overall. The paint is custom purple with chameleon/flip-flop flames, and looks great. There is a stress crack showing towards the edge of the left front fender, and a few cracks in the paint on the right rear fender, both of which are shown in the pictures. The headlights, parking lights, and taillights all work. There are foglights on the roll bar which also work with a dash-mounted switch. The speedometer does NOT work. There are no wipers or turn signals. There is a custom stereo system installed, however I have not been able to figure out how to turn it on. There are 3 or 4 switches under the dash, and another 3 or 4 behind the seats. I haven`t had time to trace everything back to see what does what. There are neon lights on the roll bar, and under the car, again...unsure how to get them to turn on or if they work. Honestly, the wiring for the stereo looks to be a nightmare, someone really needs to sit down and spend a day redoing it all. The stereo wiring is honestly the biggest pitfall that I see. I really wish I had more history on this. I have no idea what all was done to the motor, or if it is stock with the turbo added or what. I was able to find some car show pictures of it online showing pictures of trophies for best paint, etc. It is a really fun little car, I just can`t justify keeping it. I want to try and be as honest and upfront as I can about it. So please feel free to ask ANY questions about it. If you are able to come see it in person you are urged to do so. It is located in Lombard,IL 60148. Less then one minute off of Interstate 355. I have what I feel is a pretty reasonable reserve set on the car, compared to what I see some lesser cars selling for. I would like a $200.00 PayPal Deposit within 24-hours unless other arrangements are made. Balance by cash, or wire transfer preferred. If you pay with a check/cashiers check I will not release the vehicle until it clears. I would like it picked up within 1-week of listing end, however within 2 weeks is totally acceptable as long as it is paid for. And again, please feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to answer them! |
