CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER | |
---|---|
This car was purchased from the wife of the previous owner who passed away. It was a Texas car until 1994. That's when the previous owner purchased it and it came to Pennsylvania. The body and underneath is very rust free as you would expect from a Texas car. It probably never saw snow. I purchased the car about 4 years ago with intentions of having it restored back to new condition. Since then I've had some health issues and being in my mid 70s, I have decided to sell the car. Following is my best description of the car as I know it along with the issues it has:EXTERIOR:The finish looks like it could be the original paint, but I believe it was painted many years ago. The paint is shiny and looks good from 15 feet. Upon closer inspection there are flaws in the finish. The black areas are the worst and should be repainted. Depending upon how far the buyer wanted to go with it, the Heather Rose color could be okay with a little touch up and the white top has lost its shine and could be repainted as well. The body looks very solid and appears to be all metal. There a few dots of rust that are on the bottoms of both doors. The driver side has less than the passenger side which is shown in one of the photos. The chrome and stainless are very nice, very shiny with no pits in the chrome except some light pitting on the spinners of the wheel covers. The spinners could be detached from the wheel covers and rechromed if desired. The windshield and other windows are very nice with no wiper damage, clouding, chips, etc..The tires are a matched set of American Classic Radial Whitewalls and have a very deep tread. (see photo)There are a few photos of underneath the car. The frame and under carriage were never undercoated as it is a Texas car. There is one small area of rust on the passenger side floor. See photo. An easy fix with a welder, and other than that it is very solid. No evidence of previous patch work or damage repair. The right side muffler is light damage at the front, but doesn't effect its use. INTERIOR:Interior is okay but a little work could be done to make it nicer. The seat covers have likely been replaced at some time and are still nice. The front door panels are the worst areas. A trim shop or talented buyer could repair the loose black vinyl at the bottoms and the white vinyl, especially on the passenger side, could use attention. See photos. Kick panels under the dash on both sides could be replaced. They are warped, out of shape and need replaced. All the dash gauges work as they should except the speedometer, which I think needs a cable. The clock and radio is not working. I didn't check these out as I cannot get under the dash. I have attached a video of the car running and the gauges working properly. There is a spare tire and jack in the trunk.ENGINE/MECHANICALThe car wasn't started or driven since the owner died a few years ago. When I purchased it, I didn't try to get it running. I just stored it in my garage. I decided to get it running when I decided to sell it. The engine is the original 260 ci Hemi V8. To get the engine running the dual contact points, ignition wires, spark plugs, water pump, fan belts, and battery were replaced with new ones. The oil and filter was changed and the old gas drained from the tank before adding new gas. I also rebuilt the carburetor. It may need some adjustments as there is still a bit of hesitation upon acceleration. The engine idles smoothly with no unusual noises. The engine feels powerful and the automatic transmission shifts as it should. The odometer shows about 53,000 miles but the true miles are unknown because of the speedometer not working now. I cleaned up the brake cylinders and master cylinder and got the brakes working. I suggest the brakes are thoroughly gone through before using the car in traffic. I recommend new brake hoses, and new or rebuilt wheel cylinders and master cylinder to be safe. I have attached a youtube video the the car being driven around my property. I live at the top of a hill. at the bottom is an intersection with a busy road. Even though it stops fine, I don't trust the brakes so I haven't taken it on the road.
