Up for bids today, is a 1968 FORD LTD COUNTRY SQUIRE STATION WAGON.PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING. It is very detailed and informative, and should answer any questions that you may have.I have a MARTI REPORT on this car, and it is only 1 of 66 built like this. This car is a 99% original, unmolested, survivor car. The only thing not like the original equipment is the rear air shocks, and the 5 new radial tires (Factory were bias-Ply tires). This car has a factory 390 c.i.d. big block, auto trans, and (I believe) the famous ford 9-inch rear.It is very cool car to drive. I get thumbs-up, compliments, and questions every time that I drive the car. This car is a FACTORY Air Conditioning, Hideaway Headlight, Front Power-Disc Brake car. It also has a heavy duty roof rack, factory installed step below tailgate on rear bumper, and two-way tailgate. It has a factory installed clock in the dash, and an AM radio. The car also has a factory installed anti-sway bar on the rear. It also has the cool flip-up rear "Way Back" seats that face other. It has Sunlit Gold paint, with 52 years of patina, and faded side simulated wood grain. The odometer shows approximately 53,000 miles. Not sure if it is original miles.THE GOOD: This car runs, drives, shifts, steers, and stops flawlessly. The rear tailgate glass works, from both the key in the tailgate handle, and the switch in the dash. The body is really straight, and does not appear to have ever been in an accident. There are only 2 areas in the body where I found rust, but the floors and frame are rock solid. All of the turn signals, brake lights, parking lights, headlights, and high beams work. THE HIDEAWAY HEADLIGHTS WORK FLAWLESSLY. The windshield wipers, blower motor, and speedometer all work. The foot switch for the high beams works. When I rescued the car from the previous owner's driveway, it was in pretty good shape but ran real rough. So, I replaced a few parts to get it running great. I also replaced some parts to make sure that it was safe to drive.I have owned the car since June 2015, and have done the following work to the car since I have owned it:1) Rebuilt The Factory Carburetor (2015)2) Replaced Timing Chain And Timing Gears (2020)3) Replaced Fuel Pump (2020)4) Complete Tune-Up (Regular Intervals)5) Complete Oil Change (Regular Intervals)6) Coolant System Flush And Re-Fill (2017)7) New Front Brake Pads, New Rotors, New Calipers, & New Caliper Hardware (2015)8) New Rear Brake Shoes, New Rear Drums, New Wheel Cylinders, & Rear Brake Hardware (2015)9) New Front Shocks (2015)10) New Rear Air Shocks (To give it more stability) (2015)11) 5 New White-Wall Tires (4 on car, one as a spare) (2015)12) Rebuilt Factory Distributor (2016)THE BAD: I only found rust in two areas: The bottom of the tailgate, and the rocker panel under the driver's side rear door (See Pictures). The front bench seat needs help. (My friends are telling me to fix it before selling it, to get a higher price. But, if I do, it won't be ORIGINAL anymore....). The driver's side arm rest on the door is worn and has duct tape from the previous owner on it. The dash pad has heat cracks. There is some loose stitching on the headliner, but the headliner IS NOT SAGGING DOWN. The windshield wipers work, but the windshield washer switch is broken. The light in the glove box does not light up. The horn and AM radio recently stopped working. (I believe that a fuse blew, and I will check it in the next few days). The A/C compressor is locked solid. Every component for the A/C system is there, and hooked up on the car. I believe that if you fix the compressor, the A/C will work. I did not want to replace the compressor, because it is the one from the factory, and still has the triangle shaped tag on it with the factory FOMOCO part number. I wanted to re-build the factory compressor, to keep it original, but I have not gotten to it.The other 3 door panels, rear passenger seat, and rear "Way Back" seats are really nice and show very little wear.I rescued this car to save it from just sitting and deteriorating. BUT, I also had visions of hot-rodding this car. (Come on... It is a 390 big block, hideaway headlight station wagon!!! Can you blame me?) But, I have 2 other classic convertibles that I work on and drive. And, I haven't had the heart to hot rod it up, YET, since it is so ORIGINAL AND RARE (1 of 66). But, I now have the time and the itch to just go with my original idea. BUT first, I figured that I would list this car on here, to see if someone either wants to restore it, drive it like it is, or if they want to make a hot rod out of it.I have a clear title in mine and my wife's name.
