CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
You’re viewing my 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible with thereliable 289 V8. The car was painted and restored in 2003-04. Unfortunately theformer owner’s wife couldn’t tell me much about what was done during therestoration. As she received the car during a divorce settlement several yearsago. Since that time the car sat in the garage slowly withering. So it wasn’tenjoyed much over the years and as time passed she decided to sell it. That’swhen I made the purchase and brought I back to top down cruising life. The car has some nice touches like the full length floor consolethat shifts a C4 automatic transmission. It also has; power steering, manualdrum brakes, remote L/Side mirror, AM Radio, Power convertible Top, 14” Ford StyleSteel Wheels, a set of new Hankook 205-70R-14 tires that replaced the same sizeBFG Radial T/A’s that are shown in the photos. It also has KYB gas shocks, anda nice sounding stock Dual Exhaust system that exits out the rear GT style valancepanel. As far as the Engine and Drivetrain…the 289 seems to betotally stock. When looking at it I can’t tell if it was rebuilt or anythingbut it sounds and runs good. With no hesitation or smoke. It has its original 2barrel Ford carburetor and automatic choke set-up, stock exhaust manifolds andthe stock ignition with points and condenser. So it’s easy to tune and takecare of. There are no real oil leaks of any kind to mention or any realdriveline noises. Transmission I believe was rebuilt. It looks to clean andshifts and down shifts perfectly. Rear differential is an open Ford 8”. Notsure of the ratio. The interior is in good overall condition. With newercarpet, front seat covers and door panels. Dash pad is perfect and soft andpliable, console is nice but is missing a piece that goes around the radio andthe shift quadrant does not display. The power convertible top is perfect andlike new including a nice clear rear plastic window. All windows roll up anddown with the front windows having that inherited Mustang not tight seal at thetop. All seat belts, interior gauges and lights workincluding the cigar lighter. The only things that don’t work are the wipers don’tpark when switched off and both the Left side floor vent and defroster cablesneed replacing. Heater temp and fan speed controls all work fine. The body is straight with no dents or dings. Only very fewroad chips from use. Glass is OK too with some scratches from over the yearsincluding the windshield with small pit marks. The car has new full length rearquarter panels on both sides. They seem nicely done when it was painted back inthe day. The poor spots on the car are at the bottom of both doors where theyare bubbled approximately ¼” to ¾” from the bottom edge from water collectingthat must have been sitting in there after being out in the rain or when it waswashed and then put away. (You neverwash these old cars. You use a detailer and a microfiber towel) Also, the rightfront fender for some reason has a number of blister like areas. (See photo) It’snot peeling or anything. It just looks like blisters. The trunk floor and rearlower quarter drop downs are like new and solid. Both front and rear lowervalance panels are new and in perfect condition. Chrome bumpers are straightand show good with only small dots from surface pitting. Grill is OK, parkinglights, tail light and all chrome surrounds are either new or very nice. Allwindow surround stainless is good with the typical pitting at the vent windowframework. The style steel wheels, caps and trim rings are all real nice. Thetrunk has a full floor mat but no spare tire or jack components. Now to the underside. All I can say is that it’s safe but notpretty. Like all Falcon, Mustang and Cougar cars alike. These cars have beensubject to rust repairs and especially cars from the northeast. No differentwith this car. What can be seen are a number of stick welded plates and repairpatches. Making for not a pretty underside. But don’t get me wrong, the mainrocker panels are like new and very rock solid. The floor panels and sub-framerails are good too. But there have been a number repairs made over theyears. Just letting you know what I see.Like I mentioned, it’s safe, just not pretty.Overall the car presents very well with its nice shiny redbase coat cleat paint and like new convertible top. Car drives really nice onthe road with no rattles and will cruise all day without any issues. It’s just anice driver. Plus, it won’t break the bank for what it’s priced at. Probablythe lowest priced V8 Mustang convertible out there. Perfect for car shows, trips to the beach with the kids or grand kids or an after dinner cruise withthe top down. I’m sure I missed some things to mention. So here’s my cellnumber and name if you choose to request more information. Ph. 631-796-7173,Dave. Thanks for looking. Happy top down Cruising!
