1966 FORD GALAXIE 7-LITREThis car was first redone by my father & I during the early 1980s. While he enjoyed it up through 2010 or so, after that his health began deteriorating, and it spent much of its time in the garage. I inherited it after his passing in late 2018, and have only recently had time to deal with it.After having a restoration shop’s assessment of its current condition & needs, I have decided that I just don't have the ability, facilities, or financial resources to bring this beauty back to the level of quality it deserves. So I've decided to offer it to someone who does.I’ve recently had it transported to my location in Wyoming… and I have taken it out for for short drives of 50-to-100 miles or so on a few occasions, just so I could have a first-hand knowledge & appreciation of its condition.As a daily-driver, it's nice. It's currently registered, insured, passes inspection, and is legal to drive. It looks good, it runs well, the radio plays tunes, and the AC blows cold. Speaking of the AC… the car does not have factory AC, but does have a dealer-installed, under-dash MARK IV unit. The engine idles steady (once it warms up), and the tachometer & gauges show all temps & pressures in the normal ranges. That said, it does have flaws...On the mechanical side… while it does have a 428 c.i. engine (hence, 7 Liter), it is not the original motor that came with the car. I don’t know the exact details why... but I do know that my dad had this motor rebuilt from the block up. To the best of my knowledge though, the transmission is the original C-6 automatic 3-speed. The odometer currently shows 66,137 miles… which I believe is correct for the car. As for the engine, I don’t know the exact mileage, but I’d guess not over 20,000. However, there's also the caveat that I’ve probably put more miles on it in the past week or so since it’s been here in Cody, than were put on it in the past 10 years while it sat in my dad’s garage.These days, one of the first things I noticed as I pulled it out of the garage… I can see that it's dripping some oil on the floor at night. While driving it, I notice that the brakes are adequate, and stop the car satisfactory. But the pedal is "hard", with very little play. The transmission shifts well, but there's an issue somewhere under the hood with the "kick-down" linkage... as it doesn't downshift into "passing gear" when you stomp on the gas pedal. The suspension too is adequate, but it does have a tendency to 'wander' slightly.Cosmetically... well, I call it a “great 20-foot car”… in that it looks absolutely stunning from 20 feet away. But it you get closer, or want to have it scored for points at a show… you’re going to notice some ares that need attention.One of the first things that a knowledgable person will notice by looking at the data plate is that the car does not wear the original colors it had from the factory. It rolled off of the assembly line in Norfolk, VA with an Ivy Green exterior, and Black interior. As for why it's now turquoise & white... my dad had bought a new 7-Litre back in the day, and he always regretted trading it. It was turquoise & white. Sometime in the late 70s, he began looking for another one… but remember, this was before the internet, and being able to do a nationwide search from your recliner. So one day when he finally found a used 7-Litre sitting on the lot at the local dealer, he bought it with the intention of recreating his old car. Fast-forward to the present, and the paint has some small bubbles beginning to appear. The interior dash pad also has some discoloration in one area, and some faint 'bubbles & wrinkles' on top. The walnut steering wheel has some cracks in it... the under-hood insulation is missing... and the drivers-side rear seat upholstery has a bit of dry-rot on the top. The rear-view mirror is loose, and has some flaking/pitting... and the passenger side mirror friction fittings are also loose, and will not hold it's position. Finally, the red rear wheel hub-cap center on the passenger side has faded... as has the 7-Litre insert on the trunk spear.These are the items that will need to be addressed, if one has the intention of it become a car you'd want to enter into shows for scoring.So that’s a synopsis of the car. And, I’m retired… so the car can be viewed in person at almost any time with some prior coordination.Now for the boring stuff:I have described this item to the best of my ability. My feedback rating on items & vehicles I have sold is perfect, and I take it very seriously.A NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of $500.00 must be made via PayPal with 24 hours of commitment to buy... with full payment made within 7 days of said deal. The payment balance can be made in one of 2 ways: either via bank wire transfer to an account number I will provide, or cold hard cash. THESE ARE THE ONLY PAYMENT METHODS I WILL ACCEPT. Only after full payment is received will I sign over the title, and hand over the keys.Pickup of the vehicle is the responsibility of the buyer, and must be completed prior to September 28, 2020.
