purchased this car 26 years ago from a wrecking yard in south central Idaho. It had just been driven in and the story we were told is that the owner had been a part time resident of Sun Valley Idaho, who used it only during the winter when he visited from Seattle to ski. The owner service certificate issued with the car when new and subsequent registrations in our possession, seem to bear out this story. Whether he died, no longer needed it, or why it ended up where it did, I can no longer recall, if we were ever told. We were there looking for parts on other cars and it was just too nice to pass up, so we purchased it and drove it 100+ miles home. We've since put new tires on it, had the brake system rebuilt and converted to silicone, and partially installed a factory air conditioning system from a '64 we parted out. Unbelievable as it might seem, we strongly suspect the mileage is original. The 413 engine and transmission operate like a champ, which is why we've held onto this car through the years. In fact, you'll notice the inner fender rubber splash shields are both still intact, further evidence this car is original and not been monkeyed with. It still wears it's factory color keyed wheeler covers! Mechanically it runs well and is our one old car that consistently starts on the first try. It just made 100 mile trip with no issues . That said, it could probably use a comprehensive servicing. , . It was repainted once many years ago close to the original and very rare green color you can still see in the engine compartment. However, there are many scratches and other insults but this would make a awesome restoration and has all the pieces , I also have a brand new windshield that will go with the car and a couple little pieces of trim in the jockey box that are missing as you notice in the pictures. . Surprisingly, there is no serious rust on this car. In fact, there is no rust through (I've included photos) and the floor pans are solid though showing some minor surface rust due to deteriorated door weather stripping. Honestly, the photos don't do the quality of the metal justice. That said, the chrome is pitted and there is rust on the front bumper and there is pitting on the pot metal (door handles, bezels, etc.) but structurally, the car is very sound and likely needs only a cosmetic restoration. There is however, a repairable dent in the passenger quarter panel and it appears there had been filler used previously in that area when the car was repainted. The door panels are straight with no warping though the carpet is coming loose and the vinyl has sun weathering. The seat covers and foam are toast, as is the dash pad and I've removed the fiber headliner panels which were sagging badly. The steering wheel has a couple of separation cracks but otherwise intact. There is rust on the interior windshield header and A pillars, but I can't emphasize enough that this is not a rust bucket. It just needs TLC. The windshield is cracked, but a replacement comes with the car. The windows all operate but are stiff and the electric rear window operates but binds up part way down and we've not forced it. It is a survivor driver. If you like Mopar, you probably know how rare these hardtop station wagons are today. They were the most expensive American station wagon when new which probably explains their low production. We love this car, but it deserves more, so we've reluctantly decided to sell it. Please if you have 0 feedback leave a phone number so I know you are serious. Thanks and great day 1963 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER WAGON - YouTube Video will open in a new windowUsing the eBay App?
