CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
1960 MGA 1600 with matching numbers (car# GHNL 89780 / engine# 16GAU 21054 / Body# B21968) has been owned and driven since 1993 by present husband and wife owners. It is an honest #3 (#1 being a concours restoration.) car; an excellent driver with the usual road wear and patina but still shows well (it placed second at the NAMGAR national GT in 1997). Most every facet of the car has been repaired or replaced. The engine (.030 over), transmission & carbs have been completely redone as have the disk wheels and gauges. The radiator, steering rack, suspension, period wiring harness, generator, starting motor, windscreen, side curtains, grey top (with correct center latch) & tonneau, correct tool set (with jack) and interior have been replaced. Halogen lights, 12 volt single battery negative ground system, Pertronix ignition, period MG / AH logo seat belts, wooden steering wheel, floor mats, luggage rack, cockpit cover and 3.9 MGB rear end with re-calibrated speedo and a spin on oil filter have been added. Numerous owner's and shop manuals, books, advertising brochures and pamphlets along with lots of spares (generator, distributor, water pump, etc) along with all detailed maintenance and rebuild records from 1993 and a British Motoring Heritage Trust build certificate come with the car. Full disclosure: odometer turned over 100K miles in 1996; all entries above were done throughout the years afterward. The car has been fastidiously maintained: Brad Penn "Penn Grade" #1 20/50 oil); compression test in 2019 showed 148 / 135 / 135 / 148; idle set at 900 RPM, air filters cleaned, valves adjusted and hoses replaced last year. First time offered, illness forces owners to let the car go to a new "temporary owner". First year membership to North American MGA Register (NAMGAR) included.
