Dodge Challenger R/T SE. Originally equipped with a 383 Magnum engine and a 4-speed transmission, this car is 1 of 400 with those options. It now has a 440 Magnum engine with a high-performance cam, Edelbrock 750 cfm 4-barrel carb and headers. The 4-speed has been replaced with a 727 Torqueflite automatic. The original clutch pedal, Z-bar bracket and clutch rod are still with the car. Power reaches the rear wheels through a brand-new, 3.55 Positraction Mopar 8 3/4" rear end with Auburn gears, new bearings and Moser axles. The original front drum brakes have been switched to discs (also brand-new). Everything rides on new BF Goodrich Radial TAs mounted on older 15" Cragars. With the High Impact Sublime Green paint (originally EF8), R/T stripes and black vinyl roof with the small back window, this car is a head turner. It's even a bit of a sleeper with the 383 Magnum badging on the R/T hood. The car has after-market front fenders that are not quite fitted properly and the front fender brackets were welded in place. There are also welded-in sub frame connectors. The 4-speed tower was removed to accommodate the center console. SE hood trim is missing (see photo). The Rallye gauge instrument panel was replaced with a stock Challenger dash panel and gauges. The oil pressure warning light and water temperature gauge are not operational as they are now connected to new, wide sweep, oil pressure and water temperature gauges. The overhead consolette, unique to the SE, is intact but is not wired in. The heater box has been removed. I intended to install a Vintage Air unit but never got to it. I will include the multi-belt pulley that is needed for the conversion. The wipers are not hooked up but I am in the process of repairing them now. A newer dash pad cover with no cracks has been added. The hounds tooth upholstery and carpets are newer and in excellent shape. There is an after-market stereo that is not hooked up and I don't know if it works. The floor pans are in good shape and the rear, inner wheel-well housing lips are just about the only place with rust. At some point before I owned the car, the rear quarter panels were replaced. The after-market tail pan has no exhaust tip cutouts as a shorter, Flow Master exhaust system has been installed. I believe the engine was rebuilt shortly before I bought the car. It has a new battery, it runs great and doesn't smoke. The transmission has a 3000 rpm stall converter and shifts smoothly. Please keep in mind that this car is 50 years old. While this is not a restoration, it has the potential to become one. As it sits right now, this is a good looking, strong running, solid Challenger R/T SE, perfect for weekend rallies and cruises.
