1926 Chrylser Series 70, this car was purchased by my dear friend in 2008 and though not documented is supposed to have 6,000 original miles, this car was named a series 70 because Chrysler claimed its top speed to be 70 MPH,1926 was Chryslers first year of production. Walter Chrysler bought the Watson Car Company in 1925. for its time, the series 70 was a very high technology automobile, it has a powerful 6 cylinder motor and hydraulic external drum brakes, as such this model became gangster Al Capone's favorite car, original manual is included, prior owner made the following modifications: 1) replaced vacuum fuel delivery with an inline fuel pump 2) replaced the carburetor with a more modern version-the original carburetor is still in possession. several years after the car was purchased a restoration project began. Total off Frame restoration that included: *powder coated frame and many other parts * all new paint with original paint numbers * all new chrome * all new weather stripping.all windows roll up/down effortlessly including the windshield * new brake pads * new clutch padding * water pump rebuilt * complete tune up including spark plugs-points-condenser-distributor cap- coil and plug wires. Not done: * rebuild motor or transmission since it only has 6,000 miles * interior though it has been gutted * wiring though it has been minimally wired to start and drive * tires from last owner with a 1995 tire date * suspension stabilizers are removed- leaf springs in place. current known issues: * needs new carburetor. all fuel has been drained from tank, lines and carb. * water pump small leak. these cars were known to leak and to minimize leak a strap is wrapped around the center shaft this is most like the cure * flywheel has missing teeth. needs to be replaced with either a ring gear or complete flywheel. the car does start but not advised since the motor is not balanced. to start the car when missing teeth are located at starter use hand crank to turn motor. the transmission does not have any fluid currently. I do have all the seats that go in the car, all of the room has new wood and just need material to attach to it, the wood wheels are amazing, body is extremely straight, paint is beautiful, it would not take much to make this car drivable!! also this is a VERY solid car that has had so much done to bring it to the place it is currently that just fixing the fly wheel and doing the interior would be about all one needs to do to be able to take this car to shows or cruise around on the weekend! pre purchase inspections are very welome, I am happy to help arrange transport of this car to buyers home town so just ask if interested...…… here is a video of engine running last - |
