CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
APPRAISALIt was completed about 12 years ago and until recently, has been in storage. The owner stated that that the car was completely disassembled and placed on a rotisserie. It was media blasted to bare metal, inside and out, all rust was repaired or replaced with NOS parts if possible and work was performed on the firewall, rocker panels and the floors were replaced. Global West sub frame connectors and multi-leaf springs and del-a-lum bushings were added to the rear. Everything was then seam sealed with leaded epoxy primer. Panel gaps, fit and alignment are good. The grill is straight and is not bent or broken. The trim is all intact, with some new pieces used and it looks good but there is a small dent on the left drip molding trim, where the pieces are joined. Super Sport trim has been added to the trunk lid which wasn’t originally installed on the regular Nova series. The rear bumper has been replaced and the front is original. Both are straight with no dents or damage but the chrome on the original front one is thin and pitted in spots. The chrome on the door handles also show some pitting. The windshield was replaced with a tinted style and the remainder of the glass looks original and remains in good condition. New door seals and much of the weather stripping has been replaced. The light assemblies and lenses are not cracked or broken but the white back up lenses are yellowed. The owner stated that the car was originally green and it was repainted inside and out with Chevrolet gun metal grey. The finish looks good but is somewhat rough in certain areas and would benefit from wet sanding and buffing. There are also some nicks, small scratches and a blemish in the center of the hood. New American Racing alloy wheels, with new Nitro low profile tires have recently been installed. Wheel size is 17 inch in the front and 18 inch in the rear and they look very good on the car.The trunk pan is solid with no rust problems and is finished in the correct spackle paint. There is also a correct style trunk mat. There is a used spare tire and wheel but no jack. The trunk lid opens and closes well and there is a new trunk seal. The engine in the car is the original 194 C.I. 6 cylinder, which according to the owner, was rebuilt before he purchased the car. The engine runs well, with no smoke or abnormal knocks or noises and just a minor oil leak at the bottom rear. The shock towers were replaced and along with the inner fenders look very good. The owner stated that it was also necessary to weld in a new firewall. Other than the installation of a new dual chamber master cylinder, the engine and engine compartment are unmodified. The wiring looks okay but could use a new engine harness. The engine and engine compartment are reasonably clean but would benefit from a good cleaning, detailing and paint touch up.The interior has been restored. The front seats are the correct bucket type and have been rebuilt and recovered in the correct vinyl material. The door panels are in good condition but here is tape on the left armrest. The carpeting has all been replaced and the condition and fit are very good. A correct style non original Super Sport center console has been installed and the original column shift has been moved to the floor, utilizing a Hurst shifter. A brake lock has also been added, with the switch mounted on the shifter. When the instrument panel was out of the car, it was repainted in gray to match the exterior and a new dash pad installed. Other than a fuel gauge and speedometer, there are no other gauges, just warning lights, which is how it was built. A non-column shift collar was installed on the steering column and the column refinished to match the exterior. The steering wheel had a leather wrap installed and from what I could see, the wheel is in good condition. The headliner was replaced and it looks good with no sags. The original AM radio and all controls, cranks and levers are in place. The front suspension and steering systems were fully rebuilt, with 2 inch dropped spindles installed, along with a front disc brake conversion added. A heavier front sway bar was also installed. As stated earlier, the single leaf rear springs was replaced with multi - leaf type and a rear sway bar added. The gas tank and all gas and brake lines were replaced with stainless steel, 3/8” gas and pick-up. The driveline is original to the car. As stated above, the 6 cylinder engine remains in place, along with the manual 3 speed transmission and 10 bolt rear axle. The only change was the conversion of the column shift to the floor. In conclusion, Nova’s from this time period remain popular and collectible, especially the Super Sport models. This car is not a true Super Sport but is the desirable two door hardtop model. Extensive work was done on the car and it was done well. The car is mechanically sound and shows well both inside and out. Most of these cars you see today, have been modified and if originally equipped with the 6 cylinder engine, it has been replaced some type of a V8. A 6 cylinder engine is not for everybody and it does have a negative effect on the cars value but is great to see one so equipped. It is a great car to drive and enjoy Exterior Engine Compartment Grill 4 Carburetor/Fuel Injection 3 Body condition 4-5 Air cleaner 3 Paint finish 3 Battery & box 3-4 Paint shade 3 Engine paint – condition/color 3 Paint detail 3 Firewall – paint/condition 4 Chrome plating 3 Inner fender / under hood paint 4 Trim 3-4 Decals & tags 3 Body alignment / Panel gaps 3 Exhaust manifold 3 Bumper condition 3-4 Intake manifold 3 Glass condition 4 Wiring condition & routing 3 Door handles 3 Belts & hoses 3 Weather stripping and Seals 4 Fluid leaks 3 Lamps & lenses 3 Engine running condition 4 Top 4 Engine type – 194 C.I. 6 cylinder Cleanliness 3-4 Cleanliness 3 Comments: Extensive metal work Comments: The engine is claimed done on the body. to be original to the car and it runs Car has been repainted. well.
