CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
**Title In My Name**Selling my 1966 Mustang Convertible project. This is a project that I picked up that someone else had started, and now I'm making it available to the next person.THE GOOD: Most of the metal on this car is new, including: aprons, hood (and fiberglass Shelby-style scoop), fenders (steel and flared fiberglass), shock towers, one door and one skin, quarters (and fiberglass flares), backset to trunk transition, inner and outer wheel houses, tail panel, and rear frame extensions. The fiberglass is just taped in place in case the next owner wants to stick with the stock steel fenders. The cowl has already been repaired. It has new centerlink, all four tie rod ends, and idler. Includes brand new 22 gallon (1970) Mustang gas tank with special filler neck, new sending unit, new brake lines, new shocks, new rear rubber brake line, new fuel line, and new V8 frame motor mounts. It has been converted to an 8.8 rear end with Trac-Loc (2.80 gear) from my donor '90 Mustang GT, and the front brakes are now disc using a Scarebird kit. Comes with all of the parts shown, plus I have a set of bucket seats and a coupe back seat which can be modified for use in a convertible. Also have a set of the rear seat side trim panels that are convertible-specific. I just haven't gotten to it yet. I also have the door glass, wing windows, and quarter glass. There are also a couple of decent extra door shells that weren't needed that are included. The pump and rams for the top, as well as the frame is included. So are the guts for the doors. I have several other parts that I have to fish out that will be included like a new retrofit power disc brake booster and dual reservoir set-up, and I believe I have a nice gauge cluster as well. Door hinges have been rebuilt, and one was replaced because it had a crack. The leaf springs (new shackles installed) and the coil springs are used original, but for a V8. I also have a couple of deluxe door panels in poor shape but they have nice trim that could be used on a new set. I believe all of the convertible-specific bright trim is there, but you can check it out for yourself. The Bad: There is still some work to be done. One of the rockers has some Bondo on it and I think it is hiding a dent. Not a big deal, just needs to be addressed. The other rocker has some pin holes that need to be filed. If I can get to it, I will. The rear seat support has to be welded in still as do a few other places. Fiberglass fenders need to have fitting finished on them if they are to be used. They look great and were about $600 each. There are a couple of places where weld nuts are missing where they need to be added. The previous owner welded in one that needs to be removed and done right for the lower fender mount. The deck lid is there mostly to cover the hole, but I would probably get a new reproduction, or fiberglass with the built-in wing like on a Shelby. They look great on the convertibles. The previous owner decided he was going to make a show car and covered the floor and frame in a layer of Bondo to smooth it out. I have removed quite a bit of it, but there is plenty left to go. I haven’t found any surprises underneath. No engine or trans is included. I do not have a lot of the interior parts, but everything is readily available as new from a catalog, or used, and most of it is pretty cheap. This is a project and there is still plenty left to do fitting panels, welding, body work, and assembly. It's impossible to list eery possible detail, and I'm sure there are other things but the best thing to do would be to come and see it. There are lots of loose parts, and the doors, hood and decklid do NOT latch. If shipping this by open trailer, you will most likely need to wrap the vehicle or tie everything down. I would not ship it with the glass fenders on as I don't think they are only held with two bolts right now. This is a great start to build it the way you want. Don't miss out!
